Apparently The SNP think this lad wasn't old enough to be sentenced for rape as he was 17 at time but 8 year olds are old enough to decide their gender.
Shows the madness of the idea (which Irish governments heartily endorse) that prison is for rehabilitation rather than deterrence and punishment.
Did I read it right that she was attacked on several occasions? That poor girl. Why did the judge think the sentence was ok as he had behaved himself since. He should be on the sex offenders list for a lot longer, if not for life.
Seems its not just Ireland that has problems with the Courts and judges handing down pathetic punishments. Absolute shambles.

Na, serious crime should always come with a proper sentence, protecting potential victims is more essential than rehabilitation.
+1 million to this. Rape is not ok, rape of a child is the worst form of rape so the perpetrator should be in jail for a long time.

Took a while to get past all the clickbait paragraphs but I see. The minister blames the judges but they relegislated the guidelines last year. Everyone sucks here, time to write an amendment to the guidelines
