It was about an 80 year old 'just mature' tree, healthy and unlikely to fall, a reasonable distance from the house. No, they just wanted to be sure the PP was complied with and not at their expense, which was reasonable enough in fairness, and everyone is entitled to have their house the way they want it. They put in a wall in place of the hedgerow and removed almost every ornamental shrub and tree from the garden leaving an expanse of manicured lawn. There are some people who just don't like trees! But I was most disgusted with the CoCo insisting on the removal of the tree.
I built a house in Dublin a few years back. Council insisted we build a driveway, rather than parking our car on the largely empty street outside.
We had to cut down a beautiful 30 year old apple tree to make the space for it.
None of the other houses on our road have driveways, and the council won’t give anyone who has applied for one, permission.
Councils are odd creatures. Every fortnight or so I go back home to visit family and when walking from my estate down to the shops there used to be a row of trees alongside the footpath that helped separate it from an estate. Some time back the council insisted the trees had to go, despite them being healthy and posing no threat to any houses. Now when you walk along the path it's a wide open empty space, where once a row of trees added some visual character to the space.
One part of the Council promotes No Mow May, the National Pollinator Plan etc. And another part does stuff like this and ignores roadside litter etc etc. It’d make your head hurt.
600k and not even a lick of paint. Slit-eye extension at the side is ugly AF and you're well on your way to Drimoleague despite the "Bantry" address
It appears to not have been properly plastered - you can easily see the block work, presumably it needs another coat. Its a amazingly unappealing house from the outside, the inside is inoffensive enough but very bland.
The interior is lovely though and that site would be lovely planted up as a woodland.
I thought that was an unfinished new build at first glance! And I thought the bit on the left was the garage!
An outstandingly unattractive exterior.
Nice enough inside though, although very much not to my taste - I hate all those grey floorboards and the magnolia walls.
What's the armchair doing randomly plonked in the middle of the room in picture 14??
But above all, I absolutely covet that walk-in hotpress and the utility room!!! As someone who lives in a house where my only spare bedroom doubles as a laundry room, and triples as a sailing-gear overflow storage area, those to me would be heaven!
This place comes complete with a 'grilling hut'.....thats a new one to me
When you enter the back garden, you are meat with lovely covered patio and barbeque area, fitted with a sink and storage. The path leads you down the garden to another area, which boasts a grilling hut, which as a seat going around the grill.
Either a very bad pun or else the EA had BBQing on the mind.
I can't be the only one that wants a grilling hut in their backgarden now 😂🤣🤣
That looks class! Reminds me of the Mongolian BBQ, where I had a roundy birthday party about 100 years ago!
I actually thought at first glance it was one of those houses that never got finished and was abandoned. 😁
I think I would prefer to live in the grilling hut rather than the house!
Was down around west Cork a couple of weeks ago. Loads of houses down there unpainted with just plain plasterwork.
They are everywhere
All fine til you get to pic 20 and 21 🙈

Good lord! Why would you do that? The toilet across the hall isn't that far away.
A friend of a friend has one of those. If you are sitting in it you cant see the people across from you because of the chimney!
Perfect for the in-laws 😂🤣
What?
Seriously, what?
WHAT?
Ooooooooooooooooooooooh!
Nah, that's the finished coat. It looks like it's plastered correctly. Seeing the blocks through the plaster when it is drying out is common on houses that aren't painted. The blocks dry out quicker than the mortar under the plaster.
I think I'd have painted it before I spent a heap of money on the basketball court.
My bathroom is old but not avocado green old 😂😂😂
Jesus, how much would a stud wall cost in time and money!
Interior is really nice but why is there no photos of the front of the house?
As far as I know, you need to leave plasterwork a while to dry before painting it?
I think that This house needs some work
I was scrolling through - afraid of what pic 20 and 21 would be. 🤣
Unusual! 🤣
It gives a new meaning to open plan! Imagine lying in the bed and having someone on the toilet in the same room.
The latest trend in posh houses is to have a bath in the bedroom itself. I wonder in years to come will these houses be mentioned here and everyone will be saying '' a bath in the bedroom. what were they thinking''. Personally I hate the idea - water being splashed around the bedroom floor - not for me.
A whole island.........
In the Real Estate Agent’s terms, everything about this property brings forth superlatives, the oohs and ahhs of commerce vs common sense:
This unique property ticks all the right - to fully understand the boundless boundlesspotential this superb property has to offer; viewing is strongly recommended.
What???
The idea of living on an island greatly appeals to me!
The fact that there's zero internal pictures of the cabin says it all. If you could secure planning permission, water mains and electricity and had massive pockets it would certainly be a nice adventure.
