Anyone have any idea if this generator is worth buying. Need it for the farm for occasionaly running a water pump or maybe a drill.
First generator I have seen advertised in lidl aldi since covid.
That particular type are only ok for very occasional use but the light blue suitcase type ones they had for around 240 were excellent.
Around 2018 I bought the blue 1800 watt one and I've shorn thousands of sheep with it as well as drilled rock for fencing and ran *some* of the house when power was out. Still going strong.
My buddy bought the Lidl version of your picture above and there's something wrong with it with little done.
I have seen market stall owners using them a fair bit though.
Check the wattage on your pump. Anything running continuously needs a good bit more power than the peak load wattage.
Would be inclined to stay away from it. Bought one before and it was a heap of crap, nearly impossible to start and would cut out when under a bit of load. Needed to be well-warmed up before you could get any use from it. Similarly, I purchased a 'Chinese' make from Screwfix some time ago. Also middling; reluctant to start, would conk out if moving it about a bit and refuse to restart. Wouldn't run a demolition hammer when out on site etc. Sorry I didn't go for a proper hire-shop standard one the first day ever, I'd be as far on now.
I doubt that would work a water pump, I’ve a 3kva Honda generator and there’s a fair draw on it when the 1hp pump kicks in.

Picked one up myself to run, chop saws, etc. Go with what's in the box or a €10 3pin adapter. Can't fault this genny really.

Seeing as you are so constructive with your limited feedback as to the why, you might be able to enlighten the OP with other options?
Obviously this is not a contractors or a heavy use option where you probably need to spend 4 figs +
Would need to know what the welder was rated? A 90-100 Amp welder would need around 3000W. A 200Amp would need about 6000W.
This will output a consistant 2600W with a boost (some tools use more when starting up as compared to when then in use) to 2900W.
You sound like a salesman for the company. The only generators worth buying are with genuine Honda engines. We are everyday repairing / rewinding and should know.

Not sure if it’s much use to a farmer. Looks like it might be handy for someone camping
For the few things I bought from Lidl or Aldi, none really lasted and like you I’d have been better on buying right the first time. Lesson learnt
