I honestly wonder about some people
At least this one was walking against the traffic. I once almost killed a trotter going in the same direction as me, on my side of the (narrow) road, in the dark (no street lamps), completely dressed in black, except for the soles of the shoes which I saw jump up and down after an oncoming car had passed and was no longer blinding me (just like in your video).
People put light up collars on their bloody dogs but won't light up walking country roads.
Light from oncoming traffic makes it harder to see the dark when driving, they aren't doing themselves any favours.
This exactly ! The Dashcam gives more of an impression that she was visible but in reality I only spotted her last minute and the oncoming car stopped me getting out to the far lane to give her some space. You can see her shimmy sideways that’s how close it was ! I was half expecting to meet blue lights on way home from a pedestrian being hit. It’s a busy road for tractors / jeeps and trailers etc. with little to no additional road space
Often happens, people go out walking at dusk and go a bit too far, by the time they turn around and head back dusk has become dark, especially at this time of year. I hate driving that first hour of darkness.
Sorry, but YIELD
Yeah, not the same people obviously 🙄🤣
Bit of a two for one. Overtaking on the solid white line, then undertaking the next guy. Three young guys in mammys car I'd say. :-D
They gave you a nice salute when they overtook, did they know you? 😁
They may have been responding to a similar gesture as they were overtaking. 🤣
Badass in a Renault!
Wouldn't you want to get home as fast as possible if you driving that!
08 D 26565 is listed as a 1.2l Grand Modus 16V Royale. Not sure whether that's with or without cheese.
Run me off the road today
That should be reported to AGS or Traffic Watch
Are you able to get the registration number?
Does that really work - I know in the UK they just send you a fine through the door but here? Haven't really heard of many cases going forward bar thanks for the footage, now what?
Went to report someone who flew through a red light nearly killing me and someone pushing a buggy - the guy on the phone just hung up
And BMW and Audi drivers.
No. And even with all the footage possible from your camera, they would never prosecute unless an accident occurs. All you can do is make a formal complaint.
No portal in Ireland, they say 2024, maybe........
https://www.irishtimes.com/transport/2022/10/04/online-portal-for-road-users-to-upload-footage-of-dangerous-driving-could-go-live-as-soon-as-2024-garda-representatives-tell-oireachtas-committee/
Yes, go down to the station and make a report, they will gladly accept your footage, what happens next is anyone's guess.
It's that prick in the Merc(?) that is getting overtaken that should be reported to the Gardai, clearly holding up traffic and won't pull over to the hard shoulder.
Which video are you on about if it's the last video I certainly hope you are joking
Holding up traffic and causing head on collisions is certainly no joke to me.
If the driver is unable to keep up with the majority of the drivers, pull the hell over.
You've no idea what speed the merc was driving at, he could have been doing the speed limit. And there is no obligation for him to pull over into the hard shoulder. Only idiot in that video was the van driver for overtaking when it was unsafe to do so.
There was three vehicles behind him. That counts as deliberately holding up traffic to me and he should not be let away with this selfish behaviour.
Take the prick's licence away and make him do the driving test again. Let's see him pass the test while failing to make progress.
I regularly let drivers pass me by hugging close to the hard shoulder when it’s safe to do so but I never, ever go to the hard shoulder. God knows what will pop out of a small roadside gate or minor road. In that clip, that appears to be a long sweeping bend. At any speed the Merc driver does not have a clear view ahead to even think about pulling over. Also, it seems to be a very busy farming period currently with an awful lot of tractors on the hard shoulders everywhere. Definitely not safe to pull over to the hard shoulder.
It's not really expected to pull the whole way into the hard shoulder, even just hugging it or just inside it. Lots of people do this so as not to left traffic build up behind them. It's common courtesy, then you have these important ass hats in the Merc.
I often have a queue of traffic behind me on the backroads driving home from work because nobody is capable of doing the speed limit anymore and almost everyone does 10-20 over the limit and end up causing traffic themselves by catching up to me. I couldn't give a **** if there's a queue behind me when doing 60 on a 60 road. I'm not the prick speeding.
And all the people on national roads can ask my arse too with their driving in the middle of the road trying to bully me to move into the hard shoulder. If you're in the middle of the road you can clearly see, the person in front has no obligation to move over. Nothing stopping someone moving to the edge of their lane and leaning their head over to see past the car in front to check it's clear to overtake. Funny how it's not an issue on other roads, but if there's a shoulder you're regularly bullied to move over.
I've often blown and flashed drivers like you over to the hard shoulder on National Primary roads where there is a constant stream of oncoming traffic. Usually works. I think it's becoming more common thankfully.
These people are terrible drivers. They're not doing the speed limit that's why traffic is building behind them. They're scared shitless in the driving seat, there's no way they could even consider driving at the speed limit, no matter how good a road it is.
I do the speed limit so you wouldn't have any luck using your horn improperly or flashing at me. If you can't overtake someone on a national road then you're a bad driver and that's your problem, not mine.
If people want me to move over they make a point of driving in the middle of the road to make me aware that they're unhappy, at that rate they have a clear view of the road ahead to overtake safely but they never do. They just want to get their own way.
It's funny, I don't seem to have an issue when overtaking people on the same roads.
