Dragging up old cases outside the statute of limitations and outside State remit.
Bragg ran on a campaign of bagging Trump, Bragg boasted during his 2021 campaign that he helped sue Trump more than 100 times.
The man is seriously biased when it comes to Trump, there is bad blood between them.
I know most people on here hate Trump, they would love to see nothing better than his demise but this isnt the way to do it.
It might only make him stronger if the charges dont stick.
If they've waited all this time to build the case against him, I would be surprised if it wasn't a very strong one.
If it is outside the statute of limitations then Trump has nothing to worry about and I'm sure you will be back in to gloat if a judge throws out the charges.

There is an election next year, thats the main reason for Bragg acting now.
If the charges relate to violating campaign finance law then they are going to be very very difficult to prove in court.
A settlement payment of a nuisance claim is not a federal campaign expense and a state DA has no authority to prosecute a federal campaign finance violation in any event.
The settlement was ultimately paid out of Trump's personal funds and had nothing to do with the campaign since the one-night stand occurred 10 years before the campaign.
The previous case against John Edwards failed and that was a much stronger case.
Edwards campaign donors paid up to $1 million to Edwards' mistress, Rielle Hunter, while she was working for Edwards during his Presidential campaign.
On the other hand Stormy Daniels had no connection to Trumps Presidential campaign of any kind and the encounter didn't happen during the campaign itself. Trump paid the 130k in personal funds though Cohen.
There really isnt a case here.
If the case is weak why did the grand jury vote to indict?

There are elections every two years, so always an election next year. People should not be above the law. Can everyone claim that they should have the charges dropped or delayed because they have a big thing coming up?
This has gone through a grand jury. Bragg didn't just do this solo. It will stand, or fall, based on the law. Trump has plenty of lawyers sp why are you so worried about him? Do you accept that he had the affair, that Cohen paud the money, that Giuliani admitted that Trump had repaid it through the company? So the only question is whether he accounted for it fraudulently - which I understand is one of the main charges - and you cannot possibly know the answer to that.
What we do now is that his CFO has already admitted to false accounting for expenses. So there is a history there. Does that not make you think even a little bit about it?

Trump then says he can't he can't be charged because he's running for president.
The guy has spent his entire life dodging prosecutions.

Of all the things Trump could get nailed for, hush money to a porn star sums the guy up as well as anything: utter trash.

It is absolutely connected to the election - the hush money was paid because it was going to seriously damage him in the election if it came out.
Now there definitely was a way they could have structured it so it wouldn't have been illegal but Trump is dumb and hires dumb yes men so they made a complete mess of it, like so many other things he touches.

Then again, it probably wasn't so much the revelation which Trump was worried about so much as the idea that Stormy would start waving her pinky around and make loads of small hands jokes on Ellen etc.
No-one would believe a word out of his mouth when it comes to a plea deal. He'll probably have a (handy - for some) heart attack before this goes to trial.

Having gone to the stage of indicting him , there is simply no way they offer him a plea deal.
If offered a plea , Trump would spin it that he was actually innocent but taking the deal was the only way he could make these terrible people leave "your favourite President" alone so that he could be free to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN (Again).
It's all or nothing really for Bragg.
Trump has a problem there though - He can't try to pull the "I'm too old/weak to testify" line like Murdoch is currently trying to pull as that would be hugely damaging to his Presidential campaign. He's supposed to be the Tough Virile guy compared to the decrepit and senile Joe Biden.

Daniels was going to tell all in 2016 but Trump paid her off and gave her other assurances so that the voting public would be unaware. To say it didn't effect the 2016 campaign is laughable, it literally put Trump in the White House because the only thing the US media were talking about in the final 2 weeks of the campaign was Hillarys emails. Clinton went from nailed on winner to losing after that with 12 of the last 14 NY Times front pages negative articles on Clinton's emails.
