Seeing as Elton has now rescheduled his Dublin gigs, might be useful to start a 2023 thread as others might start popping up.
The Commitments - 7th - 19th February (Olympia Theatre)
Elton John - 28th/29th March (3Arena)
(Not an Irish show)
On paper it's a **** great lineup and great to see that Saturday lineup preform again. Ozzy probably be held up like for that half time show
AC/DC for Slane 2024
And its very much appreciated ! Its correct not to scupper the announcement
No, for those unaware, this festival is a lot more than just music, they have interviews, talks, plays etc as well, so they take over the Cork Opera House for the whole week, and its currently empty that particular week, but has acts booked in either side of that week: The festival use multiple venues across the city, but Opera House, is where all bigger events happen including plays etc.
Like Beyonce in croke park? Or that new festival that was then wasn't happening but could be one of the 2 new festivals announced this year?
You have access to information, not denying that, but you get crumbs, and that's fine, stop pretending you're getting the pie and just can't share it.
I put a ton of things I hear on here, so neck is truly out there.
just In this instance as they only announce a handful of shows seems a bit bad to leak the rumoured headline acts on a public place like this.
Think it's kinda expanded beyond their direct involvement so wouldn't be top surprised if they didn't show up but would be great if they did
Fanirish, can you not say anything in the first place ? This whole I know somthing you don't know is getting drawn out.
Because they're not as important as they like to pretend they are on boards and only get trickled down information, actually putting their neck out there would show they haven't a scooby.
As I said would feel bad as they only announce a handful of acts. bit unfair to scupper their announcement.
It's all I want this year :D Thanks for the goss though, get me excited about these upcoming shows
Can you not just say who you heard it is?
Scullion - Whelans, Friday 14th April. 😎
Not what I heard.
Please don’t read it into that big red machine are playing. I just said that Aaron/Bryce will undoubtedly show up on stage at one of the shows at the festival like they always do.
Its M83 isnt it? You hinting at me right? RIGHT?!
With The National themselves playing here on Thurs 21st Sept, first date on the European tour (and on to UK in the days after), I'd have thought the weekend of 15th-17th was more likely?
That would be something, their 2nd album was excellent, even Swift fitted in, very well on a few tracks
No, i was “speculating” that, as he is playing Killarney, and he could squeeze it in, as free nights in Musgrave Park around the same time
Foggy Notions teasing an act tomorrow: "an Irish debut by one of our favourite contemporary artists will announce tomorrow." Be interesting to see who that is
I thought Hozier was down to play Cork, Musgrave Park
Think they played the first one. They were meant to support Bon Iver at his gig here but will all the rescheduling they didn't. Would love to catch them if they do play again.
So...
A "biggish international act."
Members of The National appearing as part of a side project or as guest performers.
And it has to be someone who - at present - has no other concert commitments in September.
Clearly, it's Taylor Swift. 😉
This seems to point to Big Red Machine playing, a indie-folk collaboration between Bon Iver and one of the Nationals members
Just a guess though, cant say much for sure
I actually wouldn't mind that, that's the week after the Picnic and I could use it in combination with visiting my sister in Bandon for the weekend and I have mates who live in the city.
Not one of the names I heard.
the national aren’t playing it, though members may be appearing in side projects/guest performers.
Some acts are repeating from prior years. Two big ish international acts playing it.
Ya big tease ya ;) The National again would be great but already playing Dublin later in September. No Damien Rice Irish dates announced yet and doesn't have anything here for the summer but dunno would they have 2 acts who played before. Kinda stumped what other bigish international acts that aren't playing here already but definitely eager to find out
Haha
@bodhrandude Aphex Twin to do Sounds From a Safe Harbour as an exclusive Irish date? 😝
I wouldn't be too sure about that.
The same crowd had a festival called desert trip I think couple of years back same thing 2 big acts per day. Stones, Dylan, Paul Mc etc and you'd have had to take out a loan just to buy a ticket to the thing itself.
