Wonder are there many other summer gigs due to be announced or have Fairview park, Trinity, Marquee, Musgrave park, Collins barracks, Malahide, St Anne's park etc all announced all theirs at this stage? Kilmainham only has 2 gigs announced for August so far. Would have thought they'd try to get a couple more in to spread out costs of setting up a stage there.
5 and 8 concerts have been announced respectively for st Anne’s and fairview. So one more each for those based on what was disclosed to DCC.
trinity has 7, usually around that number in previous years. 5 last year I think.
malahide has 7 currently. Don’t they will announce more.

Marquee in cork will have more announced, same with Iveagh.
Musgrave has 8. That’s probably it
I’d say Hozier is a good possibility at Musgrave Park, he’s also doing INEC.
For The Marquee, any Iveagh Gardens is a “potential”, for the Marquee, Waterboys, Bellx 1 are already doing both, and next most likely is Two Door Cinema Club.
Damo & Imelda May are popular, but would not fill the marquee.
In theory, Kraftwerk could also do the Marquee.
Kraftwerk last show in cork was not busy. playing Limerick anyhow for people in that neck of the world.
TDCC also already headlining Indiependence in Cork
No marquee for them as a result.
It looked busy to me, at the time, excellent gig, and looked busy in standing area, but appreciate thats only my perception.

Absolutely is, but I'd imagine if Dublin had a bigger venue, more of them would've played. An Irish show obviously has increased costs (transport etc.) so more tickets helps.
Plenty of Olympia shows really should be in bigger venues. I saw Inhaler there last year when they did two sold out nights. Really that should've been in a bigger venue. Fontaines did 3 nights in Vicar street last year when that could easily have been 3 nights in a venue double the size. Don't think it would even need to be 4,000. A venue of size anywhere from 2-4,000 would go a long way

A few acts do multiple Olympia/vicar shows, it’s not like every second act does it.
And it’s usually Irish acts that as you mentioned. I just don’t see how a 2,000 -4000 cap would make financial sense.
cork will have a 4,000 cap venue by end 2025. That will lead to more consistent bookings of that nature.
I can't see bands going to Cork for a one off Irish show as they do in Dublin.
I only mentioned the two bands as I saw them last year, but there is loads of bands too big for Vicar Street/Olympia and too small for 3Arena.
Never heard of these. Must check them out.
That events centre might never be built.
The start date is continuously being delayed and the budget keep rising, it probably needs to be scrapped at this stage.
I find the Boygenius name highly problematic and i insist they be re-educated and take appropriate measures immediately, before any more hurt, pain, and trauma can be caused.
@Fanirish what do you think, is it possible Aphex Twin might get announced for a Kilmainham gig in August, seeing as they are announcing acts for there at the moment.

RHK august series is complete from what I heard. Only ever 2 or 3 shows over a long weekend in any given year.

Yeah but her fans will go to a boygenius show in high numbers. Not like it’s a weird side project that’s a million miles from her solo stuff.
lucy ducas and Julien baker also have decent fan base.
You wouldn't know though as acts play Marquee and Irish Independent as is and they're temporary venues. Also somewhere like the INEC likely gets people who are travelling from outside Kerry including Cork so might be demand.

Just heard, Sounds From A Safe Harbour, installment #4, of the bi-annual festival, which was last on, in 2019, will be announced soon, likely to have official news next week. Didn’t hear official dates, but has to be weekend of September 8th, allthough they have events on mid week, but 3 bigger headline slots are usually Fri/Sat/Sun.
Would be great to see a return of SFSH. Mary Hickson did a great job organising the first few installments.
