Seeing as Elton has now rescheduled his Dublin gigs, might be useful to start a 2023 thread as others might start popping up.

Thats a small enough venue for them.
Yeah, they were going to do the rds but that was cancelled due to lost voice

Dublin really needs a 3-4k capacity venue, something like the INEC would be perfect.
Great act, it just accurred to me, that thats about the same time as Sounds From A Safe Harbour Festival is supposed to be happening( expected to be, weekend of September 8th)
Honestly needs a decent 2000-2500 cap venue more than a 4,000. Simply not enough 4,000 level acts to make sure a venue worthwhile

From €35.50 plus fees etc so €40 minimum really
Fairly full schedule first 2 weeks of September, only 1 night off either side of the Dublin gig so unlikely to play Cork.
And if anything second Olympia show would be likely
could one of the indoor halls at the RDS serve that market? They used to hold a good few indoor gigs at the RDS in the past, though they were fairly basic in terms of facilities.
We’re plans to use it for series of gigs in recent years but a) sound is **** in rds or very very expensive to get right b) setting up costs/insurance prohibitive c) if an act is hitting 4000/5000 plus audience promoters have summer options for them or they take a punt on 3 arena
My memories of gigs indoor in the RDS are of sound quality so bad that damo on the dart with his phone banging out scooter gives better enjoyment.
yeah I remember they had a reputation for bad sound. Perhaps a promoter could partner with the RDS to renovate one of their halls as a decent concert venue? Seems like it would be easier than trying to build a new venue from scratch in a new location where there would undoubtedly be planning objections.
Incidentally, the main room in the Convention Centre holds 2,000, but probably not an ideal design for gigs.
Went to see Kings of Leon there a around 2008/2009. The gig was class but from memory the gig the night before or after the one I was at part of the ceiling fell down.
Was at Snoop Dogg last night, really enjoyed it.
They may not be everyone's cup of tea but Versatile who supported Snoop Dogg had the place rocking. Can only imagine what peoples reaction was that never seen or heard of them before last night.

€90 for a weekend ticket sounds okay, for this, based on the relatively basic lineup, but whats with the €20 extra for Eco Camping, its ticketed, but free at E.P.
Solid show tonight by Ben Ottewell and Ian Ball (Gomez) in Whelans. Totally forgot the show was tonight. Alarm woke me up this morning. Thought it was my work alarm but it was a reminder about the gig tonight. Worth the trip up to Dublin. Love Ben Ottewell's voice. Have to head up to Dublin tomorrow again for Elton John tomorrow. Will be quiet then on the gig front for a few weeks.
No, but there was plent of adverstisments for Snopp related clothing throughout the gig. Between each act and D12 were adversting their clothing during their show. Never seen anything like it before at a gig.

I was keeping an eye on the setlists by Ed Sheeran. For the first few shows over the past few nights, he was only playing one new song. It was all the big hits he was playing. But I see last night changed completely, Played a couple of the main songs, and then 14 songs in a row from the new album. End of gig - nothing familiar to close it off. I was going to go to 3Arena on Thursday night. But not a chance now. Not paying anything near €115 to listen to 14 new songs. It's a bit self-indulgent by the performing artist.
Last night was billed as "Ed Sheeran will perform a special debut live performance of his new album “-“ at Eventim Apollo on 27th March with guest Aaron Dessner and full band"
So it was billed correctly, the Dublin show should be more like the other UK shows he has done recently.
Yeah it was listed as once off album showcase. He is isn’t stupid, by end of tour if he is doing 3 or 4 from the new album that’s probably it.
Yep, quite a few newer bands I follow not doing Ireland this year. The Olympia/Vicar Street too small and 3Arena too big
Multiple reasons why bands skip ireland on a given tour, whilst venue size is a key factor there is others.
don’t think there is demand for 200 shows a year in a 3/4000 venue here.
