Good lord, I've just watched that!
Looksee's posts make sense now at least. 😁
Good God! I’d emigrate to Albania before I’d live in my parents’ garden.
Aww the video has disappeared
It's still available in @Deeec's post if you want to learn the words. 😁
here it is
I've seen similar in fingal in a few places. And around Ranelagh/Rathmines.
Very very common in Australia. Called sub-dividing.
Used to be decent sized gardens. Now No. 19 will have No. 19A in what was their garden and 300k in their pension fund
Better still sell No 19 if it's your PPR and live in 19A. 400k in the bank
Daft that something like that would be common in a country with a near infinite supply of land
Increasing housing density in order to limit urban sprawl is quite the opposite of daft. The idea of their 'infinite land' is also flawed, given around 75% of the mainland is classed as semi-arid, arid or desert.
Their zonal planning system makes a lot more sense than our non-sensical system.
No need for sprawl. Just create a brand new town somewhere else. For buildings it doesn't matter if it's desert
Yea but the desert part is well out there. And what about work. It's great building a new town out in the middle of no where but people need money/work. But that house I showed where there is a two story house in their garden is madness. Also the majority of houses in the suburbs in Australia are built on a decent size plot compared to Ireland so there is room for another house.
It's fairly normal in the older estates in Dublin, am used to it now. One house near me sliced off a side garden and sold it for €200k. Another house got permission for 4 houses in their back garden.
It's very efficient when water, sewerage and electric connections are within a stone's throw from site.
Wouldn't you be subject to Capital Gains tax if you did something like that?
Another one curtesy of Reddit. No singing video ;
That's one confused house....looks like Louis xiv threw up after he went bear hunting!!
That's said I wouldn't say no to the beds, bathroom, cellar, cinema or the gym minus the planes.
Very understated ... 😎
That's some gaff I wouldn't mind living in but not in UK if it was in Ireland. Oh yea and the obvious if I had the money.
It's going to be a bit disappointing now, any ad that doesn't have a singing video... I'm joking. 😀
It got them loads of publicity though.
I lived in Radlett for quite a few years, lots of houses like that.its one of the richest villages in England home to footballers singers actors etc
There might be a lot of million plus houses but not a lot like that one!
God knows what kind of budget you'd need to renovate
It would be a sad world if we all thought the same. I think it's brilliant. Incredible craftsmanship in some of the features. Way over the top but still awesome.
Its in the Elizabethan style - someone got a catalogue of Tudor/Elizabethan mouldings etc and ordered multiples of everything.
What does it matter? If you don't do it then you have zero income from it, pay less tax, but you still have zero gain.
I'd gladly pay the tax on €200,000 for very little work involved.
Most people don't want to live in a town in the middle of a desert.
I would, if it was made from Tiramisu.
It would do as a weekend retreat i suppose. Also would be fun during one of many Atlantic storms we get.
I like the wall enclosed area so you can sit out in the sun while being blocked from the cold wind which we get many days of.
Jesus Christ, the interior - I was NOT expecting that!!!
Plus, WTF is this room about??
Plus, you'd have a headache from all the reflective surfaces everywhere (not to mention arm-ache from trying to keep them dust-free)
Plus, 60 acres is a bit much lawn-mowing for my liking.
For a cool $10 mill? Meh, I think I'll pass.
I do absolutely LOVE the outdoor space with the glass window in the wall though!!
And the private west-facing beach - yes, please!!
