It doesn't mean mad,
It means war spreading to other countries and less then stable governments having access to weapons that could wreak havoc elsewhere,
Nobody knows what the Chinese will or will not do , but Korea comes to mind
Don’t see where you’re coming from here. Being on NATO’s doorstep? What strategic difference does it make being a couple of hundred miles closer to Europe. MAD remains MAD. Xi is going to back Putin because? Are you hitting the booze? 🤣
No story except nuclear weapons on Natos door step once again,it's like he's goading Nato or Poland to remove the mig 31s from the game ,this giving the putin the excuse to blame escalation on Nato and the US ,and likely forces xi ping to enter the war in support of putin
Things are not going well for Russia if they are raising the nuclear threat.
It says to me Putin is scrambling for ideas… to be seen to do something. They are getting their arse handed to them in Ukraine. Typical Russian.
it means nothing. Instead of Russian missiles in Russia’s control within Russia, they are Russian missiles in Russia’s control in Belarus. No difference. Russia would suffer exactly the same way as if Putin fired them from Russia.
The story is there’s no story.
It's been on the cards for months, it's nothing new unfortunately , along with the permanent deployment of Russian troops to Belarus,
As it stands Belarus is currently under occupation and on the road to being reabsorbed into the mother Russias arms and the population of Belarus have zero say in the whole **** show
Presumably Putin is thinking, if they fire a nuke from there, it's Belarus that's gonna get turned to glass first.
Must have got the OK from Xi for it.
As an act, it is beyond the pale.
It is deliberate nuclear proliferation outside of all international convention and in the course of a War.
It ought to give NATO the right to act in any way it pleases, but the first step is the UN Security Council. Russia need to be nailed to the wall by every right thinking nation and frankly, it will be the time to see the colour of the money of China, India, South Africa and others.
There is no qualification of nuclear weapon proliferation. Either these Countries demonstrate that they are against it, or by their inactions they show that they are for it. And for that they must face consequences.
In and of itself, its just another massive strategic misstep by Russia, in a litany of strategic missteps. And Putin will burn for it.
That you're fond of reminding us of Nuclear Armageddon?
Apart from this, that the Kremlin is just tightening it's grip on Belarus further.
Seems that incorporating Belarus in to Russia is part of the plan.
Guessing the hope was to combine Belarus and Ukraine in to a new Soviet Socialist Republic.
Putin's life long ambition.
The new version, while softer is still a crock of sh17.
Seems like there is an accelerating process of Belarus becoming just an adjunct of Putin's Russia as the war progresses. Attacks have been launched on Ukraine from there. Russia has a load of troops in the country and seemingly full control of its foreign and secuity policy now (if moves like that are happening). Almost like back to being "ssr"-like, with dictator Lukashenko reduced to sort of governor who Putin calls up and orders what to do perhaps?
I think that there was an edict from Putin a short while back, that given the exceptional circumstances ( major losses, but he did not say that) All contracts due to finish, are automatically extended until further notice. Not sure if only applies to the regular army, or to Wagner's as well.
bluster... there's been Iskandar's in Kaliningrad for years now... and Putin is right, the American's have nukes in Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy and Turkey ...
I'd say Luka is breathing a sigh of relief for the moment
No expert but it seems just a continuation of the deteriorating security situation in Eastern Europe. The more it deteriorates the more accident prone we are. At some point someone will make a mistake and things could get ugly in a hurry.
Except of course for the fact that Kadyrov is only hanging on in Chechnya with Putins support. When / if Putin shuffles off this mortal coil, there's no guarantee that the new regime in the Kremlin will see Chechnya in the same light. If that happens, Kadyrov will find himself with more important things ( to him) to worry about than Ukraine, like keeping his own head firmly on his shoulders. He is for sure not the first choice of the majority of Chechens to be their President. There's a lot of old scores there going back to his Fathers time to settle.
This have been known since August last year,Lukashenko like Putin knows that nuclear weapons will be the only option to remain in power, after seeing how things are going in Ukraine.
He asked for Iskander M nuclear capable since June and su24 capable of carrying nuclear weapons since August.
It will only contribute to making the world a more dangerous place, and to keep dictatorships alive.
I'm far from an expert but my thoughts would be that Putin knows a nuclear state wont be attacked and by arming Belarus he can keep that barrier in front of Russia safe
what do all you experts out there make of this development..?
Some Tulip!
HIMARS
No US havent, because of cluster ammunition and legal issues,,however Ukraine got it trough Turkey and Pakistan, but i also think its been up in congress a few times to send it,since US have a huge stock of it.
And it have been used a few times allready in Ukraine,i believe they recived allready some from Turkey back in November
And yes that might be a 30 mm,you are right
That's interesting, but the claim was that a Wagner mercenary's end of contract conversation went something like this.
"That's been a hard aul' six months. Fancy spending some time with the wife and kids."
"....eh, maybe I can stay a while longer."
Or was that only for the prisoners?
Recent update on Bakhmut.
Meanwhile.....
It is effective stuff, but two issues. 1) I don't believe we've actually transferred any DPICM (though Ukraine may have its own stocks of cluster munitions), and 2) That's a 30mm autocannon on low rate of fire.
Vimy Ridge (April 1917) performed a similar function for Canada. It's considered the moment at which Canada really became recognised as its own national unity both in Canada and abroad.
The Nordic countries have decided to operate as one united airforce to deter any foreign aggression (Russia) giving them a combined airforce of 250 aircraft,
This is something we could be seeing more of in the future in Europe.
Very true, they're only get one shot at this, hopefully they can do it.
Personally I think they can and have my ticket for the Crimea Beach Party 2023 ready and waiting. 😁
The Chechens literally vanished. Not that they did the heavy lifting anyway. They were tik tok warriors for a reason.
I think they still hate Russia and are trying to preserve themselves as best they can in the hope Russia implodes and they can break away successfully this time. All that noise on how loyal they were to the regime was all smoke and mirrors.
It sure will and this is whats going to be the final result of the war, both sides are worn out after months of hard fighting, and both sides have put their fresh reserves in,Ukraine for the final offensive blow and Russia for their defence of what they have left of occupied territories.
Be interesting to see, this is Ukraines last chance of taking back their country,if not i guess it will end up on the negotiating table, and Ukraine knows this too.
Its all or nothing now.
Yea, things are gonna start getting exciting soon...
