RTE's new 8 episode gangland drama with an all star cast.
AMC start date is September 9th I can't see a start date for RTE just a coming soon.
No sign of Anthony at Vikings dinner.
I guess most of you missed the following detail:
What I found interesting in the last episode, ( episode 1 of season 2 ) is the airport scene. The tail of the airplane in the back is a Lockheed Super Constellation, or at least it would appear very much so. I would be surprised if there are still any airworthy Lockheed Super Constellations in Ireland?
I've only heard of one airworthy Super Constellation in Australia, in NSW?
They did a good job of putting the fictional branding in a few places in the shop but there's a big sign visible in the external shot with the shop's actual name 🤣
Can't quite make it out though, Lidl [something] Road!
Disregard the IFTAs.
Closed shop nod and wink rubbish
Any Irish production that funded jobs in the film industry is showered with them.
IFTA nominations are NOT repeat NOT any indication of quality.
How I missed Amanda's wonderful drawl and Jimmy's haunted blinking eyes.
What's even worse with the IFTAs is the way they have all those Irish people speaking in awful Irish accents getting awards. Crazy stuff.
The very definition of the IFTAs is to reward the best of:
“Irish production that funded jobs in the film industry”
How did you miss that?
Is Michael father to one of Amanda's kids or the miscarriage aborted child too?
It will sweep again next year. There's nothing that's rivaling it. However, the show is not "critically acclaimed." It has a small sample size of 9 critic reviews on RT. That's not enough to be considered "critically acclaimed." It may pull in decent enough streaming numbers in NA but it won't go beyond that. It'll never be considered for any awards other than the IFTAs.
Michael was the father of the murdered son, Jaime, if I remember correctly.
It was hinted at and strongly implied that he was
The child they lost by miscarriage was an assisted pregnancy.
The look on the dad's face when she sent him home after the procedure was so powerful(tho I'll bet doing that will cause spectacular lash outs from him in the future)
Is Jimmy firing blanks ??
Nothing said, but there could be a lot of reasons for assisted conception.
What American role?
its woeful , badly acted , badly written sh1te ....
Between the accents, and the ever present music, the mcgregor wannabe , brutal stereotypes,...
wow....
How can people think it is ok to watch, nevermind good!
“Badly acted” by an ensemble of actors who are serious players in major productions in US and UK, yeah, sure.
Why do you keep watching it?
ah it's Sunday night brainless stuff, better than the dross that is smother or heaven forbid north sea connection.
Why are you using such a generalisation?
Base the programme on the programme, not what they have done in previously well written , bigger budget productions ....
The English/American , and even Irish actors, doing very bad Dublin accents, and in my opinion the acting is terrible... No emotion, plot is paper thin ...
Look at this fawning review...
Its just to glorify how great the female characters are in it ...
I watch it for the laugh, car crash tv, laugh out loud moments .....
So they all suddenly became bad actors en masse when they picked up their Kin scripts? That’s your proposition?
And yet here you are. For a second season.
Bad acting - i didnt say Bad actors ....
Bad script - Bad accents.
Yep, arguing with the same people that see no wrong in that show .................
So this team of leading actors, who regularly get leading roles in substantial productions in US and UK, all suddenly started doing bad acting en masse, when they picked up their Kin scripts?
Amazing coincidence.
So the acting isnt bad then?
So the script isnt bad then?
I cant understand why you take any criticism so personally about this show?
You were the very same all last year ....
Did you write the script??
Nope. First season was 7/10 for me, much room for improvement.
And you must see the amusement value for us of a poster who consistently states their hatred for a show yet keeps watching. And posting. There’s surely an episode of Black Mirror in there somewhere.
Mod: step back please. Discuss the show, its merits or otherwise; not each other.
Works the other way also..
So no answer as to how or why this bunch of actors, who are all recognised internationally as being at the top of their game, all suddenly and simultaneously started acting badly when they picked up their Kin scripts?
And no, I’ve absolutely no connection with the production.
for me its lazy pandering writing having the two 'bosses' be female. Just because there is a movement at the moment doesn't make it suitable for this show. In the real world this wouldn't happen and the writers are just trying to get a tick in the woke column.
