yeah, That's not a bad date-exactly, all I want is to be able to communicate honestly with a company. instead, I got fobbed off numerous times.
I ordered from Artessa , The art of coffee on saturday, Thay rang me tuesday to confirm the address , I had added a note that I only wanted fresh beans and I'd rather wait for fresh than get older beans. They were roasted yesterday morning, shipped at 2pm and arrived to me at 3pm today-lovely beans as well.
No issues with order received after, Order placed on the 8th April and roast date is 7th April, received by courier 12th April with Bank Holiday weekend, cant get better than that. It would be much better for them alright if they just said sorry and left the buyer with a better impression of the company.
it's a shame that their single origin is only available in 250g bag, works out nearly e60 for a kg.
I had a terrible experience with them as well when I ordered the last 2 times, they made excuses that the beans needed to be gassed, they were shipped at 3 weeks after roast-that's not fresh roasted, on top of that, they made excuses, instead of apologising and saying it wouldnt happen again. I actually got different excuses from 3 people at the company about why the beans were so dated.
It really left a bad taste in my mouth-literally as well as metaphorically haha....
It's not worth the gamble to me to be stuck with bad beans for a month or 6 weeks, and I really love opening a fresh bag, knowing the beans are in peak taste.

I'd agree - it's decent and they are doing the same offer again for April! If you need a decent if not extraordinary bean it's a good shout for the price.
This (New Kid Coffee) is lovely - not mindblowing or anything, but I'd absolutely buy it again, especially at that price.
Any discounts for the weekend coming from the good Irish Roasters.
Does lidl (or aldi or dunnes) have any nice beans at the moment? Prefer light / medium roast, for a drip coffee machine.
Went with Ethiopia - GERBA DOGO LOT#2 and HONDURAS - Carlos Mejia - HONEY, the discount pretty much covered the delivery charge.
The honduran honey process was lovely
The nicaraguan bean just got delivered as my sub on Friday but will be a couple of weeks before I get to it. Good sign if it is the sub bean though imo as they try and keep their subscribers happy and usually make great choices
I availed of that offer at the time. The coffee was exceptional. Although there were so many others in the queue that by the time I got there...!!
Any recommendations

it just sounds like such a shite cup of coffee awaits you. Honestly that description reads like a threat of some kind
I'd never have bought it based on the description alone:
Early bird (or not)? Espresso Madrugador is a firm (but medium-roasted) espresso specially developed to make extra strong espressos to get your day off to a good start. Start your day right with a shot of delicious Madrugador. It takes a bit of guts, because you can't really call this blend mild! A slightly fruity espresso with a strong spicy kick.
The Madrugador is the flagship of our coffees and is roasted in a small authentic roastery in a barrel over a gas fire. After each batch, the roaster allows the beans to rest for a few hours to a day at most, and the flavour is assessed. Only if everything is right are the beans packed in a container from which any residual gases can escape but no more air can enter. The roasting date is always recent (maximum four weeks) and is always printed on the front of the coffee.
Right, tried it. The Madrugador needs to be banned from the 'coffee bargains' thread because its not worth whatever you get it for, and it needs to be outlawed in the coffee forum because I am not sure it is coffee. Its actually quite offensive, particularly the aftertaste.
Arrived today - roasted on the 14th. Grinder nearly empty here so will be opening it in the next few days and will report back!
Never tried them so maybe you could report back if you get a chance - cheers!
I'm almost out, so bought a KG of the seasonal blend to keep me going - thanks for the heads up!
Just an update on my Cafe Du Jour experience:
Café du Jour 100% arabica Cerrado - Bang average - My wife called it Petrol Station Coffee - Wouldn't buy again.
Café du Jour 100% arabica Brazil - Slightly above average - very drinkable day to day coffee - would probably buy again.
We're a Flat White house using a Eureka Mignon Silenzio to grind and Rancilio Silvia to pull the shots.
Wife bought a Kg of WCC Brazil on Sunday which probably tells me we won't be experimenting with budget roasters for a while again!
Nescafé gold blend (7) any good bargains, I used to get it for 4.50€ in Dunnes it's now 7€
Thanks for all that info.
I went to pull the trigger but it's gone back to 600-700e
I'm kicking myself.

I had to drink Nescafé Gold last week, not sure if Madrugador much better.

Order date 11th march; roast dates 8th & 9th March; delivered 16th March. Satisfied with that.
Only tried the Ethiopian this morning via my cheap espresso machine/ grinder set up and it was delicious, enough to make you drink too much coffee on a day. Happy so far but a bit worried about the Madrugador after your comments. Will also try over the coming week in the B2C and aeropress (might find something that suits the Madrugador).
-Madrugador blend not my cup of tea. Tried for several days , different brew ratios.Goes to the bin
-Yirgacheffe very decent ( if you like blueberries and Yirgacheffe in general) I think you could get the similar quality locally for €40 .
I’ll Definitely buy more Yirgacheffe and South America blend .
