From a legal perspective alone, things can be fierce complicated if relationships break down with just too people - adding a 3rd or subsequent partner to the legal equation just seems madness - nothing stopping you (besides your current partner that is) having 100 “wives” or “husbands” as long as you don’t look for any legal legitimacy for such relationships.
Sounds like a job for a suitable "Citizens Assembly" 😀

ah i think theres actually some sort of dysfunctions occurring in such arrangements, that may in fact require professional supports such as therapists etc, im not convinced such setups can truly be maintained, but shur who knows, maybe its just not for me....

Jaysus no. My missus watches the tripe about polyamoury in america & its fcuked up. Doesn't matter how happy they all pretend they are, there's always issues and insane hidden jealousy all while the bloke is pretending to love them all equally, but ultimately just riding a different one every night whilst not having to do the work of raising 50 kids.

If you want fun just go in the apps , there’s plenty to be had… you can have any amount of sexual partners you can handle. if you/partner are equally in accord with that, but in reality one partner is likely to be inwardly seriously unhappy with that arrangement. IMO a romantic/loving relationship is between 2 people, at least whilst it lasts.
Think its linked back to pre-DNA times, if its 1 man married to Multiple Women you will know who the father is, if its 1 Women and multiple men you have no idea

There's no law against it so I'm not sure how it needs to be "recognised".

i think you will find that there are laws against being married to more than one person at the same time.

As for amending the law in relation to marriage, I'd have no issue with it. I think it would be an insane thing to enter into, but the major stumbling block would be the legal aspect required to allow for it as opposed to any moral objections.
True but your reputation as someone who cannot stick to a contract that they freely entered into, would not be great. Personally I think less people should get married, if they are unable to commit to the contract and public statements that they make. I've been on a real conservative trip lately, I am enjoying it.
