RTE's new 8 episode gangland drama with an all star cast.
AMC start date is September 9th I can't see a start date for RTE just a coming soon.
Very good and enjoyable episode .... I can see some major storylines coming along .... not mentioning story specifics here because some people may yet have to watch episode 1 ...
For me it is the best Irish drama in years ... specifically since 2014 ... many will compare it back to Love/Hate and let's face it it is the only Irish drama that can compare back to it ... yes there are many similarities with the shootings and rivalries but Kin is also doing things different too ... Amanda is certainly a much better female character than any in Love/Hate for starters ... on the other hand Viking Kinsella is definitely like a more deranged version of Nidge or Nidge with a bit of Fran in him .... those 2 characters will be key in Kin #2 ...
What name did they have on Lidl? It was a four letter word anyway.
Definitely Lidl though.... Only one staff member 😀
VERA i think or maybe it was VARA
Great start last night , was glued to it
Very enjoyable episode last night. I missed the fridge.
Looks like it could be really good.
Brings middle aisle surprise to a new level.
Only complaint: the dramatic music was a bit too much.
The story etc is quite good however like in Smother etc they try way too hard to push the ''Strong Female'' lead. In the case of Kin she's probably the worse one in the whole show.
The Lidl Coolree milk brand was visible on the freezer
I was surprised that they let them into the Courts building and grounds for filming.
Enjoyed last nights episode. Where is that lidl ?
Edited post contained misleading information. Sorry
Looks like they went all in for the first episode! A lot of deaths.
5 murders in the first episode (Witness in Lidl, 2 hitmen on the farm, rival dealer and bodyguard killed by Turks).
I thought it was a big improvement on Season 1, no dodgy camera work that I could see anyway. Looks like the production has more money behind it too which is great to see.
Not sure about Frank becoming a nervous wreck and finding God, I hope that's not where that side plot is heading.
I looked up the actress playing Nuray Batuk (Öykü Karayel), she's a well known Turkish actress and has won a ton of awards for her acting so high hopes for her in this.
Who?
I never really understood Frank's character in the first season. He was made out to be this weak, pathetic, and unfeared leader (which he is). Yet he was at the helm of the Kinsella family for seemingly years. This doesn't make much sense to me. If he's that bad of a leader, I don't see how he's survived for as long as he has in such a volatile and violent world.
But at least his storyline this season is shaping up to be sort of interesting now that Bren has now been released from prison. I also hope they don't take him down a path to try and find god or whatever. I don't think they will. I assume they wanted to showcase how desperate Frank is to feel some semblance of peace. As he's a guilt-ridden, traumatized man that has deeply rooted issues. I'm interested to see where they'll take the character.
I don't know but I think the popcorn marker would go down well in a lot of them!
Well you would 😂🤣🤣
@redn90 I think when Frank visited Bren in prison in season 1 it was hinted the Bren was head of the family but he made Frank boss while he was in prison, I think in that episode Bren made a reference of something along the lines that he regretted not leaving Birdie in charge (can't remember exactly)
All of season 2 is up on it ???
I mean yes he was made leader in Bren's stead. However, the question isn't how Frank became the leader but rather, how he managed to retain his position as the Kinsella leader. If he's this incompetent with no one respecting him, how is it that the Kinsellas were still in business? I get that Bren's reputation might have granted Frank some leeway to solidify himself as the Kinsella leader within the drug world. But, that reputation fades away as Bren has no power while in prison. Meaning that it's entirely on Frank's shoulders to lead the family. And I don't understand how survived for that long being as weak as he is.
I'm confused so all of season 2 has been shown in the states already ??
Well if it had it would be all over the US torrent sites but it's not.
Episode one appeared on the torrent sites this morning and it's the only Ep there from what I can see.
My mistake
Your post made it sound it was out already in the states
This article from 10 days ago is all I could find about Kin airing in the US
https://www.looper.com/660937/kin-season-2-release-date-cast-plot/
According to this the air date was unconfirmed (at the time of writing) and they will air parallel (or after) RTE
I remember when season 1 was being shown it would drop on AMC+ on Thursday and RTE wouldn't show it until Sunday
This wan must be planning to win the euro millions if she think she can get 90mil in 4 months selling drugs!!
First season of Kin was very up and down but to be fair I thought that was very solid start to season 2 last night.
if it was a Lidl or Aldi and your man made it to the middle isle, he would have had a choice of things to pick up and defend himself with, be it up an axe, a chainsaw or a crossbow
I thought it was a good enough opening episode.
For some reason tough I can't take Eric seriously.
Me either, there's a sort of Conor McGregor attitude to him.
Much tighter pacing this time. Bodes well for the rest of the series. I’d say your man playing Bren is going to have some fun with that role.
I wonder does Eric know Bren is out of prison and that's why he's saying all this 'Amanda will get put in her box etc'
