Its got all to do with the old soviet/russian mentality, they think they can break any international law and get away with it,because mother Russia will come to the rescue.
We see that even today, and thats exactly what Putin is using as well to «rescue» Russians in other countries.
But it doesnt always work
Wagner Su 24 downed over bakhmut looks like the crew survived for now .
Japan & South Korea making up in the face of the coalition of losers ie North Korea, China, muscovy.....
Another big hit?
US appropriate response. If they are consistent to what they do in the seas around China - The US should fly a massive show of force into the Black Sea... see if Russia decides to shadow them and get close enough to touch them... I think the Muscovite pilots might be washing their hair en masse during that time.
This is a big issue in Russia-
Completely, the focus should only be on killing as many of the Red Army as quickly as possible. That's payback for downing a drone.
Use this as a leverage to speed up supplies and Western rearmament.
Western ammunition supplies are limited, and not at levels in most countries to sustain a long term conflict.
The world will be a much more violent place in years to come as pax Americana declines, authoritarian regimes are growing in number, economic clout and ambition.
did someone say previously that the US don't have unfettered access to the black sea and can only stay for 2 weeks.
I think this incident just shows the lack of restraint and discipline in the Russian military. It was probably some drunk or very dumb pilot looking for bragging rights or an over zealous commander not realising the ramifications of his actions.
I guess China isnt such as nice neighbour as Norway is.
I feel a Christy Moore song coming on 😂
It will backfire on the Moscovites....now Biden can defend his actions in supporting Ukraine against any Americans ( especially the Republicans) trying to reduce US support. It was a stupid move by the Russians, one that they'll pay dearly for.
Like Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto wrote in his diary,»I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve»
Based on ?
true
I do wonder whether the downing of the Reaper was accidental in terms of contact occurring. I've no doubt dumping fuel on it wasn't to benefit the machine. Either way, the best reaction is to smile and make your adversary madder.
There are Ukrainian women fighting in trenches in Bakhmut. I'm for it from the point of view of a volunteer army and equal opportunity, but losses come with a different kind of pain:
She has a 9 year old daughter staying with relatives out of country.
The US/NATO also need to keep a presence over the Black Sea. The Russians correctly I think said that the US drone was collecting intelligence and part of a programme to assist Ukrainian forces to attack Russian targets. So what happens now? This intelligence is needed, so lets assume normal operations continue and the Russians down another. What then?
One report saying it was UA another saying RU.
That is probably the Orc plane track disappearing off the radar screen I posted earlier.
:-)
Yup any day now
Is there a video/article about this ?
And hopefully soon. Although I am looking forward to Zelensky getting his comeuppance.

The USS liberty, yes it's well documented but unless you were already aware of it wouldn't be a well known story .
I recognise the name of the original letter writer from Twitter. He's some old guy who's a big SF supporter who thinks that the USA is the cause of all of the world's problems and therefore Russia must be in the right if they are opposing them.
Speaking of buthurt...
Didnt come as a surprise,Russians have nothing else to lose soon,so keep sending canonfodder in,and hope for the best.
Lads, if you really think your having a back and forth with a resident of Russian extraction, I've a bridge to sell you.
From behind the pw:
Sir, – If Eoin Ó Murchú is so positive in relation to China’s role as a peacemaker in Ukraine (Letters, March 14th), perhaps he could explain why China has failed to support either the UN Security Council or General Assembly resolutions seeking an end to the war.
As regards the 2015 Minsk II agreement, Russia has always insisted that it was not a party to the conflict and therefore not bound by most, if not all of its terms, in particular the commitment to withdraw foreign troops and mercenaries.
The facts are that on February 21st, 2022, Russia, in direct contravention of the agreement, officially recognised the self-proclaimed People’s Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk.
The next day, Putin declared that the Minsk agreements “no longer existed” and Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24th. – Yours, etc,
