Thats not a sufficent answer ito be honest. My understanding was that Horizon were all on for the Waterford project because of Dublin prices and difficulties in accommodating staff..

Don't know where the €1 Billion came from. It was around €400m when it was announced. I know inflation is high at the moment but that's taking the piss.

Some blow to the contractor. Think it was 300,000 sq ft expansion, must be at least €30-50m project!

Yep that's always the case - the shareholder's interest will always come first - a lot of the staff who took up positions got a nice golden handshake in the form of shares when they started.
I did hear that too, may be just a pause until Amgen decide what they are going to do with the site. Definitely not a position I would like to be in at the moment - too much uncertainty.

That's partially true - the company was bought out. As it stands, from what I hear, the employees themselves don't yet know what's happening. Amgen have taken them over - this is a global takeover so decisions on the Waterford site will be made by corporate. There is a fully functional fill line there which was recently qualified so it would be easy enough to consider for current and future products. Any expansion is in the hands of Amgen as is the future of the site - a lot of uncertainty at the moment I would say.
i know they were struggling to find accommodation for new recruits, so this must be playing some major part in their expansion plans, company takeovers would be common enough also, this is done for many different reasons, sometimes to curtail competitors, so maybe.....
Has anyone any insight to what is happening in horizon therapeutics, I believe they were going to do a huge expansion, 700 million by all accounts,but now I am hearing a competitive company has bought the plant and the expansion is not going ahead now.
very limited on what could be done to a building thats decades old, leveling would probably be a better option, but that would mean investing, therefore disrupting the whole extraction of wealth from the whole thing via rent, so......

There should be tighter grounds of appeal, and then a quick assessment by the Board as to whether the appeal lodged is actually valid and the decision will actually be reviewed.
It seems mad that any kind of development, either something like this or a kitchen extension, can be held up for long periods of time by people who just don't like the decision of the local authority and want to see if someone else (ABP) will agree with them.
Specifically on the appeal grounds mentioned on this case, I can't understand why the applicant should be asked to demonstrate proof of the level of demand for retail warehousing in the city - how can you do that until you build the thing?
In terms of creating a precedent for the other developments outside of the city centre - do they realise that Lisduggan is also outside of the city centre? It was probably out in the sticks when it was built in 1975.
Here's a summary of the submission. Basically, throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. She is also only a consultant acting on behalf of the company that owns Lisuggan Shopping Centre.

Be interesting to see how this goes as the person in question had objections in at the time in relation to TK Max when it was located at the retail park. I couldn’t access what her submission was as the file would not open but I’m sure it’s some sort of an objection to the development as her interests are with Lisduggan Shopping Centre which to be honest is only fit for complete demolition. Just another delay tactic against the development if it’s appealed to ABP
I think because it was classed as office space it was against one of the city development plans which specifies office space should be in the city centre if possible.
What was wrong with the Medical Centre building do you know? Did not look excessive or out of place. More edge of city retail is good but more Medical Centre buildings is bad, it's a bit strange!
