I wonder how this will work out for him

Don't know why he's bothering doing his law exams or any of them attending college, given the entire family are now unemployable by even the most tolerant of employers.
While Enoch is off on a solitary picnic.
I'd say any other (unrelated) people called Burke from the Castlebar area are investigating what's involved in changing their name via deed poll.
Or perhaps just updating their CV to say something like
Name :- David Burke (no, not those Burkes)
I’d imagine it’s the intolerant employers they want to work for.
Maybe those Bakers from the "Gay cake" case need a solicitor or perhaps would like to brush up on their conversational German??
To be fair, no-one would expect someone called David to be in the family. Maybe if their name was Leviticus Burke.
Imagine if everyone in court just went in, picked a fight and then shouted over anyone with differing opinions? Would be a hit US TV show, in fairness.
I hope you are all prepared for the upcoming battle for our kids though. The Burke's are but a footnote. A footnote with many supporters, including lots of parents at WHS. Social welfare will soon be able to remove your kids if you do not allow them to become indoctrinated into "transgenderism". The schools aren't just teaching kids about it (the horror), they are recruiting little transgender soldiers apparently.
Second paragraph was said to my face. By a human whose anatomy includes a brain. I paraphrased to make it slightly more humourous than outright nuts. F*ckers will make a conspiracy theory out of anything. Wait until they hear about the bee vaccine experiments. Bill Gates better get ready. More honey for me I suppose.
"Doesn't matter that they had an independent legal team. The case ruling showed that, in that instance, they were right to go to court. It wasn't a ridiculous case to take."
But that's the point. It wasn't a ridiculous case, so they hired professionals to argue it for them, and they won. As opposed to this crap where it seems to just be for show, they aren't bothering with actual professionals because they know they don't have a case. They just want to shout about it publicly.
Quite a "Quiverfull of Arrows" you might say.
And, no, I don't mean the collection of short stories by Jeffrey Archer.
Mad as a box of frogs, all of em.
Not to mention how they're willing to use the law when it favours them, but when it doesn't it's the laws, judges and processes which are all wrong.
Prisoners get visits from family every day of the week, nothing noteworthy about it at all. A lot of them blame everyone else but themselves for their misfortune too, despite all evidence to the contrary. And, like Issac, they all claim they didn't do nathin'. It's the level of disrespect and contempt the Burkes show to the justice system that is their only standout feature.
Too far fetched. Imagine trying to pitch this farce to a producer. Their reply would be along the lines of: "reign it in a bit. Make it a bit more believable. No one would believe that a family could act like this. Etc, Etc."
Ban the Burke-ah?
Heel caught in cobble stone / crack in the footpath - common occurrence IMO

Don’t be ridiculous, they are a dreadful family. Look at the stress and public outcry those children (though grown adults) are being subjected to - all because their parents and now them, have such a distorted view of religion and an inappropriate way to act in a civilised society. Roaring and screaming in schools, churches and courts - roaring and screaming at everyone - disgusting behaviour. They ought to be ashamed of themselves, what a waste
FFS. 🤬
The Independant reporting yesterday that he [Enoch] is...
...being fined €700 a day for each day he persists in arriving at Wilson’s Hospital school in Multyfarnham, Co Westmeath.
Eh, no - he is being fined €700 a day for each day he refuses to purge his contempt.
And today it was reported that he [Enoch] was...
...suspended, then dismissed in the row over his refusal on religious grounds to address a transgender student by their preferred name and pronouns".
Eh, no - he was dismissed over his atrocious bullying behaviour towards the then Principal.
Did any of these so called journalists actually know the facts of the case? Or do they simply not care?
They know the facts; and they know that they will get clicks/outrage from their mostly conservative audience (this is the Indo, after all) by misrepresenting them.
I’ve lost count the amount of times I’ve read that and then read it repeated by Burke fans saying how terrible he’s being treated 🙄 Must be true if it’s in the newspaper, right? 😂
I mean how dare they expect a Burke to actually follow the law! The indignity of it all! Laws are for other people.
Would he be charged €700 if he didn’t turn up at the school? I thought WHS were asked by the Judge for confirmation of the number of days and dates he did attend.
As you are providing clarity, and lamenting journalistic inaccuracies, did the principal accuse him of bullying her? I know one of the solicitors accused the family of that after the family disrupted the disciplinary meeting, but was the allegation of bullying of the principal actually one of the reasons why he was dismissed?
My understanding is that he was dismissed for verbally abusing the principal. Following her around shouting at her, to the point where other members of staff had to physically intervene so that should could escape. So yes, I'd say that qualifies as bullying her. I haven't read her report of the event to the school, so I don't know that she used that particular word, but it seems an apt description.
I think you should look up the definition of bullying in the workplace.
Describing it as a ROW over a refusal to address a transgender student seems an apt description, the text the poster quoted in not inaccurate, it does not for instance state he was dismissed for refusing to address a transgender student.
Its just semantics, but the poster seems to have a problem with the accuracy of reporting facts where none exists.
From the accounts I've read he interrupted a service, verbally abused and followed her ranting to the point where other members of staff had to intervene.
I'd certainly consider that bullying and gross misconduct. The same antics got him and his family dragged out of court.
Call it what you like but it was gross misconduct and would get you sacked anywhere. He blew his top and blew his job big time.
Totally agree, just wondering why Loueze has an issue with that article, he is being find €700 because he is turning up at the school, he wouldn’t be paying it if he didn’t, and I have seen no reference to an accusation of bullying by the principal, only appalling behaviour.
Did the Principal actually accuse him of bullying,
He is actually not being fined for turning up at the school. He is being fined for each day that he doesn't purge his contempt, as per the judges ruling in February. He can only purge that contempt by a court appearance where he declares said purging.
pdf (courts.ie)
pdf link to the full ruling, but article 42 is the money shot.
Yes he would be fined whether he turned up or stayed in bed. The fines stand until he purges his contempt. He would still be in Mountjoy except the judge thought he was using it for his martyrdom, he didn’t want the tax payer funding to keep him there while also paying his wages while on paid suspension. The biggest reason was probably because the school couldn’t continue it’s disciplinary process while he was locked up. The only reason the judge asked for the school to confirm the days he turned up was to see how often he was breaching the court order for him to stay away from the school. It’s irrelevant to the fines, that stands until he tells the judge that he wishes to purge his contempt.
Open to correction, I think that the fine is for his contempt of court, so it is irrespective of whether he shows up at the school or not, weekends count as well etc.
Haven't heard anything regarding your earlier mention of the school being asked how many days he showed up, admittedly though I haven't followed the story closely the last couple of weeks as I don't feel is that newsworthy anymore. It doesn't look like he will stop showing up at the school, not sure though what he hopes to achieve anymore or even if he hopes to achieve anything or it is just "a dog with a bone" mode...
The judge asked WHS to submit the dates he has turned up, in contempt of the court order. We can only assume that those dates are important, why would he ask for them if they weren’t?
