I wonder how this will work out for him

If Burke declared himself bankrupt, would that get him out of the legal costs he owes?
But you can only get money from them if they have money or assets. If they are skint, then tough luck.
God's on his side, remember. 😁
Regarding Burke being struck off the Teaching Council Register, if they go down the road of trying to strike him off, that'll be a whole new raft of court cases.
Much easier to leave him on the Register safe in the knowledge that the chances of any school in Ireland employing him are very slim indeed.
We've also been over how much he owes a million times but that's neither here nor there because he won't pay.
Is it a requirement to be on the teaching council register, to set up as a self-employed tutor?
I assume Martina must be on the teaching council register as well.
I don't know to be honest. I can't see why you'd need to be registered with the Teaching Council to give private grinds. He'd need to pass Garda vetting, but that wouldn't be a problem as he hasn't done anything to be considered a danger to children, i.e. there's no safeguarding issues.
I'd assume it would prevent him getting a job where he would be paid out of public money though.
I'll stick my neck on the chopping block here by asking the question 'Has Burke done enough to warrant being struck off the Teaching Council Register?'
Imagine if he does stop after 21st April, all that for nothing?
It's all for God.
He isn't doing it for himself, remember.
Is this mammy? No school listed because hers isn't a DoE school.

Well, in my opinion, if he is incapable of treating students with dignity and such basic respect as calling them by their preferred name and pronouns, then he does not meet the criteria as "fit to teach" imo.
From the Teaching Council Code of Practice:
RESPECT - Teachers uphold human dignity and promote equality and emotional and cognitive development. In their professional practice, teachers demonstrate respect for spiritual and cultural values, diversity, social justice, freedom, democracy and the environment.
But I'm sure many will disagree. I wouldn't allow him to teach any child of mind.
As an aside, I wonder if the parents of the trans student have made any official complaint to the Teaching Council? I know I would have.
Surely his behaviour towards the principal would come into too, along with him turning up every day in defiance of court orders after being dismissed? Even his carry on in court is relevant to his fitness to teach.

so it’s inappropriate for Barry Ward but not the journalist? Ok then 😂
No no its an actual cell, the joys of working in a prison raichu :)
Paul is virtue signalling, no doubt on the back of the publicity attached to the Burkes.
Interesting line “We’re not gendering it. So we’re not describing Juniper as a boy, we’re describing Juniper as a baby, but it is male.”

I'd imagine he would be welcomed with open arms in America, the Republican's would love him.
That's if he's able to travel to and teach in the US with his legal record.
I thought Juniper was a girls name 😅
To declare himself bankrupt he'd have to submit details of his current financial situation , something he has thus far refused to do despite being requested to do so by the courts.
I suspect that this will be a key part of the review of the fines by the Judge at the end of the month.
If Enoch says can't pay them then he has to "prove" he can't pay them.
He probably doesn't have the 30k+ that he owes thus far for the contempt of court charges and he definitely doesn't have the likely several hundred thousand in legal fees that are almost certainly going to be levied against him , but he'll still have to submit a detailed accounting of his finances to the court sooner or later.
It's neither , it's the name of a bush.
Regardless of their ultimate gender decision that kid will hate their parents in later life for giving them that name.
I think the name itself is worse than the fact it's (supposed to be) gender neutral, what kind of a name is Juniper?
I don't think that would be an issue tbh, the christian fundamentalists i.e. the Republicans could easily overcome any obstacles he faces getting a visa, he is doing god's will after all.
EB provides nothing they want or need - there are hundreds of right-wingers in the USA doing what he does, but better. With charisma and people skills, the ability to organise and raise funds etc. Thinking that he could 'make it there' is the equivalent of spotting the best soccer player in the Castlebar schoolboy league and assuming that Barcelona will want him.
From what I’ve seen of the republicans and MAGA lunatics, Enoch is far too intelligent for the likes of them. I would say his educated mind would be very intimidating for them 🤣
edited to add, he probably wouldn’t make it out of Walmart alive. I’m not easily shocked but I’ve had my limits tested in Walmart. The poor man would have a heart attack!
It's the main botanical in gin. That could explain things.
Your applying logic to Republicans and Christian fundamentalists, they don't go hand in hand. I don't see any reason why the Americans would deny him a visa. Does he now have a criminal record that prevents him from travelling to the states or other countries? either to holiday or emigrate. Is contempt of court considered grounds to refuse a visa?
you can’t just get a visa to emigrate to the states because you don’t have a criminal record?
You need among other things a sponsor, job already sorted etc. they want to be absolutely positive you’re set to hit the ground running and won’t just be another homeless person on their streets.
As it stands right now , there is nothing to prevent him getting a visa.
Depending on the outcome of the various court cases , Enoch may end up having a disqualifying convicting on his record in terms of a visa, but probably not to be fair.
The point being made though is that the US doesn't really have anything for Enoch.
He'd not a charismatic speaker , he's not a "showman" in any way which are pre-requisites to cashing in on the religious grift opportunities in the US.
His teaching qualifications are of no use to him either so it's not like he can go there and teach in some Religious school.
Exactly. There are numerous hurdles to jump, and the US has more than enough Christian Fundamentalist anti-trans anti-woke silenced-for-their-beliefs etc loonies, that they wouldn't need to go to bat to try get Enoch Burke a teaching position in the US.
By the time all of Burke's legal troubles are resolved (whether to his satisfaction or not), the US Christians aren't going to be extending their hand out to Burke. They're not even doing it now while he's in the midst of his legal troubles.
Burke is high-profile here because we don't get a huge amount of cases like this. While Burke's case has probably been referenced or used as a talking point in the US, his case isn't one that's getting much traction outside of Ireland. Cases like Burke's are absolutely rife in the US.
