I'm both impressed and jealous.
Nice one !
Don’t be too impressed. I saw the birdie !!! How it stayed on the green is a mystery. Great putt though
The early feature group was very disappointing until Scottie picked his game up towards the end of the round.
Poor Aaron Wise racking up a 10 on the 18th.
138 yards.
9 iron, hit pretty well it has to be said.
Straight at the pin.
almost came up short!!!!! Almost!!!!!!! Landed on the woodwork, bounced high in the air and came straight down towards back of green to leave about 20 foot
Was very cool to have the stadium set up around us
For some reason, I always had it in my head that it was a tee-shot of around 200 yards. A gently 138 yard pitch, I am less impressed 😁
From the furthest point back it might be 150 yards, but yeah, when we played we were pretty close to the back tee
Can you remember which wind you had? I imagine it's pretty much always a crosswind, that's what makes it so difficult, a little sidespin and you're wet. The way I'm hitting it now, right get to left wind is the dangerous one, hit it at the bunker right on 9 at Corballis last time, but still ended up in the water left.
Same as 12 in Augusta. Picking the wind is the key.
That's an infinitely better birdie story than I hit a good iron shot and made the putt.
Was a cool, but very calm day, temperature could have been single figures (there was a falling iguana warning in place in Florida at the time). Wind was pretty negligible.
What was your impression of the course overall ? On tv it looks like you have to be very accurate of the tee and the greens look to have an awful lot of undulations.
I have been lucky to play some great courses over the years. TPC Sawgrass is the most exacting course off the tee I’ve ever played.
Odd thing is there is plenty of room but standing on the tee you can’t see it, well you can but the alignment plays tricks on you.
Amazing condition, deep, dense rough !!!
I found the rough was tougher in BayHill. But maybe I was just a bit more accurate at Sawgrass. Overall the place is unreal. Manicured to perfection. Clubhouse is bigger than the White House, you’d get lost in it. One of the lads had an actual orgasm as he walked around the place, but truth be known, he probably had a few 🤣. Didn’t do myself any favours by playing it with a hangover though. It was a great story from the night before though but that’s for another day. Had forgotten about the falling Iguana warning Space, that was mental. It was I think the coldest weather Florida had in 40 years that week.
Found the shot video.
This is it bang on. Feels very narrow on a lot of the tee boxes, really strikes the fear into you, but the landing areas were more generous than you realised from the tee box.
Overall is an amazing experience and really worth it
Something happened to Rahm while practicing, he's out. An illness of some sort. Rory and Scottie in a two ball now. It'll feel very slow for them.
Was going to say, last thing Rory needs is to be held up constantly
Heard that 'illness' phrase in the premier league footie context too a good few times lately. Is that the new code phrase for covid? Are players still out if they test for it?
Morikawa loving life and very confident in all his interviews last night and he goes out and hits his second to two feet on the first. Watch out.
I checked the cut an hour ago and there was 85 players on +1 or better, it's now 75.
an hour and 15 minutes to play 3 holes!
That'd crack me up. I play 18 with two others in under three hours.
Poor Ramey, decent enough start, going solid the 2 in the water on 17 to go from 2 ahead to 2 behind
66 players at +1 or better now. +2 is definitely going to make it in. You'd never know +3 could make it yet.
Lowry will make it. Rory needs a huge run to get there, Seamus Power definitely going home.
Jaysus poor Lucas Herbert, a good player shoots 82-85 I'd fancy myself to match that!
Why is play suspended ?
Lightning, been forecast since yesterday. Done for the day.
You might shoot it somewhere but not on that course as it's set up now. A 2 handicapper wouldn't break 85.
What a round from Hoge!
Some 3rd round from Tom Hoge! 62 for the course record.
Rounds of 78, 68 and 62.
Now if he was a club golfer The handicap committee definitely would need to be taking a look!
Scheffler is probably gonna walk this, this evening, isnt he ?
I wouldn't rule out MW Lee yet. He's a battler.
Pity bout that triple
