RTE's new 8 episode gangland drama with an all star cast.
AMC start date is September 9th I can't see a start date for RTE just a coming soon.
Because both series portrayed their worlds well ... there are similarities and differences wrt both series ... I am well aware both series are not related but Kin is definitely what was needed on Irish TV and what was lacking prior to 2021 and in the period between then and when King Nidge's rule ended back in 2014 ... do you know when Kin series 2 will be?
For Irish audiences who are wondering about Kin's DVD release ... Kin is available on DVD from Amazon.
Looks like a US release - priced at $19.96 on Amazon.com but over £24 on Amazon UK
Very overpriced for just 8 x 50 min episodes
It is a US release ... surprisingly not available in the shops in Ireland yet ... I am unsure if RTE do DVDs anymore?? I noticed Hidden Assets ... which I did not get around to seeing last year ... is also on DVD but not as an RTE release ... like Kin that is meant to be a good series too ...
I feel the poor sales of the Rebellion and Taken Down DVDs has meant that RTE have shied away from releasing them and rely on the Player instead ... these 2 series were very poor though ... I was expecting a lot more from Taken Down as it was marketed as from the makers of Love/Hate ... but it felt more like Striking Out, another of RTE's poorer efforts, than it did Love/Hate ...
Kin ... and probably Hidden Assets ... are the best Irish drama series since Love/Hate and should be in Irish shops ... so much for shopping local and instore as we are told to do ... and which I do as much as possible ... when what you want is not available ... last time I was in a Golden Disks shop I found over 50% of it taken up by vinyls ... like who buys those fragile antiquated yokes in 2022 and why are they pushed at us ??? ... at the expense of DVDs and CDs ... this leaves me with no choice but to go to Amazon etc where I can get what I want ...
When is season 2 actually starting.
Production started in July so I's say it will start sometime early in the New Year
US releases won't be sold over here and will be locked to region 1. I've been buying DVDs since 1998 & have always been multi-region (same for BDs) so not an issue for me - nor should it be for anyone really given that a cheap all-region DVD player costs around €30.
RTE's attitude to DVD releases has been indifferent to say the least. They're sitting on a decent archive but make no effort to promote it. Totally different to the Brits. Sales of physical media have declined in recent years so they have really missed out. They could have sold the rights on the likes of Bracken, Glenroe, Fair City etc to Network On Air (who have released loads from the ITV archive) but don't seem no interested. No repeats and very little archive stuff on the RTE player.
Vinyl sales have grown substantially in recent years although CDs are still dominant on this side of the world. Both dwarfed by streaming. Golden Discs have really embraced vinyl but I'm not sure if it can be sustained given the cost of new LPs and the general recessionary times. I still buy both formats but tend to avoid vinyl reissues as I never stopped buying new records.
Have no issue buying from Amazon if the shops here won't stock the music and TV/films that I want.
AMC+ Just put coming in 2023 on there website
Makes sense, I saw an article from July this year that had a few pictures of the crew filming scenes near the Aviva. The article said that it was a 19 week shoot which means they've only just wrapped if that timeline is accurate. Definitely won't be airing this side of Christmas if that's the case.
*Article contains spoilers if you haven't seen the final episode of season 1*

filming on s2 wraps soon, sometime in November
Just saw an ad on RTE1 for Series 2, starts on Sunday 19th.
I'm not sure whether AMC will air it before that.
Nice
Didn't expect it to be back this soon
Last season aired in 2021. I thought they had canned it to be honest given it didn't return in 2022.
There was plenty of sightings of it being filmed in 2022 though.
Most people probably just assumed that was real life.
Is the trailer available anywhere ?

This is taking ages for a second series. Over a year since the last one ended. Sure we'll all have forgotten what happened in S1 at this stage.
"Previously, on Kin......"
Nudge didn’t become significant until season two of Love/Hate. Franni wasn’t introduced until season two.
These series take time to develop. More characters will be introduced and Charlie Cox already looks like the main one to note. It’ll be clearer how good (or bad) Kin is after three seasons.
The trailer for the second series looks good. Ciaran Hinds a big loss and Sam Keeley overacting again but I have good hopes for it.
"...a kettle boils...."
Seems this season the Turkish family or wherever there from will be the main villains
Getting revenge for the killing of the dad and son. Plenty of 'Girl Power'
Hopefully will be like love/hate which started off ok to good but then turned great in season 2.
Will it be airing mid week in the states ??
From the trailer Micky is taking his vitamins anyway
Not sure, I can't see any mention of it on the AMC+ social media pages, I'd expect something by now if it's going to air before RTE.
The actor who plays Mickey (Charlie Xox) plays Daredevil, a TV show which is coming back. I'd imagine he's in training for it.
Definitely has been
RTE said all episodes will be available on the player after episode one airs on the 19th. Does that suggest the episodes will be available elsewhere before RTE airs them?
