It beats the 0.00000001% available on most other savings accounts. Trade republic is a German online stock broker. 2% is available on cash balances of up to €50,000 and is covered up to €100,000 by the deposit guarantee scheme.
Pitty that offer is restricted to German residents.
In terms of better offers to Trade Republic, that are available to Irish residents, Go Light-year ( https://golightyear.com/eu ) pay 1.75% for Euro deposits, with a 0.75% minus tracker to the ECB deposit rates. I.e. 2.50%-0.75%=1.75%. The ECB are expected to raise the deposit rate to 3.00% in March, so the Go Light-year rate will be 2.25% soon assuming that happens. The down side is the deposit is only protected with the first 20k via investment protection.
Raisin bank might be of interest to you or some.
They offer access to some fixed term deposit accounts from around Europe for terms of 1-5 years. For example, you can get 3.06% for a fixed 1 year deposit account in Latvia or 3.15% for fixed 2 year account in France at the minute.
You do have to lock in your money for the fixed period so you don't have access to it, which is different to Trade Republic but might be of interest to some.
I have deposited some cash to get the 2% interest. Do I need to do anything to start acruing interest? Or just deposit and leave it?
Just leave it. You don't need to do anything else. It seems interest is paid on the first business day of the month so you will probably earn no interest tomorrow or a very small amount.
Interest is calculated on an average balance basis over the month.
I tried lodging funds via google pay and it came back payment declined. My bank is ptsb. Any ideas?
Setup a SEPA transfer directly from your current account. I'm with PTSB and no issues with SEPA
Anyone seeing a delay with transfers showing up in the account over the last 48 hours?
Made a transfer this morning and it was acknowledged by TR within 2hrs.
Aib called me as it was flagged by their fraud department to check that I was aware of the transfer. Could be something similar. All in all I think it took 3 days to arrive in the Trade republic account.
Not accepting my passport after waiting a week to verify it. They said contact them so I fired off a customer query through the app!
I keep getting a notification about my Tax registration number, which in Ireland is your PPS, but it won't accept it.
Has anyone else had any issues with that?
Dammit, forget that. didn't follow the normal boards rule of reading more posts!
I suspect they want to stop taking on hungry Irish customers looking for the 2% lol.

I'd be happy to pass my one on to the next person if someone PM's/replies to keep the chain going haha
Yes, no issues signing up or getting verified.
I suspect some banks such as Deutsche Bank will be very keen to increase deposits in the current climate
Could I get a referral code from someone?

@onrail - Did you have any joy in signing up? I have the same problem - when I try to enter the address manually it requires a house number to be inputted into the address, for which I dont have. I have gotten around this in the past by using a full stop or dash, but it will only accept digits.
Ive been email support a few eeks back who referred it onto to their techs with little response. All they need to do is allow for the number entry to be blank - however probably of no interest in making this change for a few paddies.

I’m being told that it will cost €1 to buy and €1 to sell for each trade x 5 = €10 in order to avail of the free stock offer
Is this other people’s experience too?
