The car will do it automatically I believe. It’s designed to get you charging for as little time as possible.
Talk about hitting the floor. Great price for LR with EAP over in UK
It's definitely a buyer's market out there now. I suspect it will become the new norm, i.e. finally there will be a functional second-hand-buyers market for this brand of EVs. It doesn't help the original owners but will help Tesla offloading the massive number of Model 3 they must have acquired after people ordered their cheap Model Y replacement.
In UK the new Teslas are more expensive than here but the second hand prices are lower. Ireland would absolutely be swamped with used Model 3 if UK was still part of the single market.
Hopefully Tesla will start to cut their inventory of M3s once MY delivery starts. Fingers crossed it will rattle the market to make EVs more affordable for secondhand buyers
If you are looking for a sizeable charge then worth it, if you just need a small bit to get you to your final destination then not worth it
Have a question, hoepfully somebody can help. Picking up the car on the 21st so I don't have it yet, but I am flying on the 24th and leaving the car at the holiday blue car park at the airport for about... 1 month.
I'll charge it to 100% before departing, and will turn off sentry mode. Anything else to make sure I don't come back with an empty battery 1 month later? I am just not sure, trying to be on the safe side. Thanks!
I wouldn't leave it in the car park at 100%; maybe you didn't plan to, but not good to leave it for 1 month with such a high SOC.
Don't check too often 'how baby is doing' 🙂 via the App while you're away, that can keep the car awake and deplete the battery.
Finally the worst door ding I ever picked up was in the airport carpark when the car was 1 month old. It's the one place I'd like to have sentry mode on, but 1 month might be pushing it alright.
Only charge it to 90% (even if it’s a RWD with LFP), and it’ll be grand…. (Or plan to be at about 90% when you park it up)
just make sure you give the battery a decent cycle before you leave (down to 20% and back up to 90-100%) so it can properly calibrate itself.
Sentry mode is fine now after the update that let you adjust its sensitivity…. It will only record and save physical threats now as opposed to saving everything from cars driving past to a plastic bag blowing past…..
Thank you both. 90%, and sentry off. That'll do then.
Am I missing something or is there P3 pretty good value even after VRT?
VAT maybe?
Ah yes! Yorkshire reg on it! Forgot about VAT!
I am going to have a loan of an M3 for a few days at the end of month and have a query about using the supercharger network.
According to my info I need a Tesla account to use the superchargers, so can I register an account even though I don’t own a Tesla right now?
Who ever owns the car will have an account, so you can plug and play on superchargers. They will then get a bill afterwards for the power used in the car. They will likely also have the other accounts for ecars and others, maybe even a card or two in the car.
Who’s lending you the car?
if it’s a friend, you can simply get the Tesla app and they can grant you access to the car for a specific amount of time.
Supercharger billing will always go to the registered owner (registered with Tesla), and be billed to the cc they have in their account.
I am actually getting it direct from Tesla for a long weekend.
As it’s free trial I was hoping to pay my own way for charging but they may supply a card or give app access to a group account?
The car should be set up to charge on the Superchargers, and they’ll be most likely comping this to you, but just ask upon collection…
Enjoy the car.
No cards or any of that messing at Tesla SuC’s. Just park and plug in.
Yep, I should have mentioned that above…
the car is the card…. And once the car is plugged in, it has a little handshake with Tesla HQ and the charger starts dispensing the kWh’s
Thanks guys 😊
Knowing the above info I am really looking forward to sampling the whole Tesla experience.
I’ll report back in a few weeks with feedback following the extended test drive.
Who said Teslas were losing value, this was for sale last month in a dealers for €45k (which was good value) now up privately for slightly more

Tesla Model 3 Performance Blue White Premium Interior Huge Spec
How does he think he can get more in a private sale than a dealer can?
Are you new to EV’s or just new to Tesla?
as if completely new to EV’s it might be worth signing up to ESB eCars and getting the app in case you need to charge outside of the Tesla network..
Yea I am pretty much new to EVs so might take your advice and signup on the ESB app as a fallback if the Tesla chargers aren’t available or nearby at the time.
Will the ESB cable plug directly into a Tesla or will I need an adapter?
No adaptor needed as the Tesla Model 3/Y are CCS as standard which is the same as 95% of EV’s on the road…
the Tesla Superchargers will hardly ever be full, and Tesla’s charge so fast you wouldn’t be waiting long anyway if the site was full…. The ESB chargers you have more of a chance of having to queue, but they are spread out a bit further than the Superchargers…
No adapter needed. You will be using CCS charger head on fast charger and in most cases, if using slow charger, the type2 cable is in the car.
How do you get an extended test drive ? Seems a great idea considering how different a Tesla is compared to an ICE car. PM if you prefer not to publish.
@technocrat I wondered this too - hasn't thought of it but expect there's a waiting list?
Been wondering the same thing. Living in Galway, it would be handy to keep it for a weekend
You'd have to make a trip to Dublin: https://www.ufodrive.com/locations/dublin-stephens-green-car-rental
