This is a real hot-button issue, particularly for rural Ireland. Excise cuts worth 20 cent on a litre of petrol and 15 cent on diesel that have been in place since last March are due to run out at the end of February.
To make matters worse, a National Oil Reserves Agency (Nora) levy, worth another 2-3p per litre, which was suspended in the last budget to soften the carbon tax rise, is due to return at the same time.
NORA (The National Oil Reserves Agency) is a strange beast. Its normal (pre-covid) income was about €145m a year from levies, and it made a huge surplus of the order of 40% of its income). Their single biggest outgoing seems to be a contribution to the Climate Action Fund (€96m in 2021). So its really another way of hiding a tax on oil fuel. This is on top of Carbon Tax, Excise, and VAT.

I ran out of oil last night, went to my local inver in Limerick for emergency top up, 1.60 a liter the bastards! When to an Amber down the road and got it for 1.30. will be ordering a full batch in the morning, will call be calling around a few places.
€19 per 1000 litres.....I think this is just a panic buy advert!
Though no one knows what's going to happen on March 1st, the price has come down €140 since the start of Feb on 1000 litres already, and generally coming into the summer sees some reductions as demand decreases*.
*The price of Oil may also go up :-)
I've checked everywhere and can't find anything about this. It's a statutory instrument, so it would have to be announced in the dail and it was very clear last September that the levy was changing to zero and it was a permanent move (it was meant to have been done in 2021)
I suspect Certa have screwed up in their information. The carbon tax increase from Oct comes into effect in MAY 1st for kerosene and it might have been mixed up with that.

I find the standard of journalism these days is very poor with many ", journalists" taking information from social media.

I don't disagree with you, if Certa are scaremongering to attract sales prior to March 1st it should be looked into. I cannot find anything definitive about it either.

You have no links to establish just when the NORA levy changes took place. My understanding is that the levy was abolished temporarily sometime in 2021 or 2022. This is corraborated in the NORA accounts. The levy appears to have been abolished to offset the 2021 or 2022 increase in Carbon Tax (which is a Green Sacred Cow). This week as far as I can see marks the re-introduction of the levy, and no Sacred Cow is being sacrificed to offset the cost.

Here is the exact wording from the official government of Ireland "Budget 2023 Tax Changes" publication - you need to google it as its a downloaded document (page 10)
"Carbon Tax The Carbon Tax rate will increase from the current rate of €41 to €48.50 per tonne of CO2. This will apply to auto fuels with effect from 12 October 2022 and all other fuels from 1 May 2023. This measure is estimated to raise an additional €114 million in 2023 and €151 million in 2024. In line with the Programme for Government commitment to ensure the measure is progressive, this additional revenue will be ringfenced for expenditure on the Just Transition, fuel poverty prevention and funding to encourage greener and more sustainable farming.
The impact of the carbon tax increase on auto-fuels will be offset with a reduction in the National Oil Reserves Agency (NORA) levy from 2 cent per litre to 0 cent per litre which will be provided for by the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications. "

@walterking: Thanks for the full reference. Seems my guess was more or less right. But it seems scandalous that in normal circumstances NORA runs such a huge surplus that it is in effect a hidden tax-gatherer.

The word "abolished" was used.
There was no mention whatsoever of it being suspended on a temporary basis. I checked with Capital oil and they know nothing about it - they do know of the 2c increase on May 1st.
East Cork Oil, ordered a fill , should be at least 500 litres, given price of €1.10 per litre , a little cheaper than the last fill
I would check how much per litre it is if it goes above 500L because most suppliers charge more per litre when you stray from the usual 300L/500L/1000L quantity. €1.10 is a bit expensive at the minute, did you try other suppliers? https://www.mcguckianoils.com/product are doing 500L for €1.07 if they deliver to you. They are also part of the Certa group so you might get them to accept the Certa WRK30 code for a further discount.

Based on todays cheapest online figures for a 900/1000L fill, NI is around 70.2ppl (79cpl), Dublin is 104.7cpl. That's around a €250 difference for 1000L of Kero.
No, it was clearly said at the time that it was to offset the carbon increase ane be a zero sum game.
I hope you mean that most charge less the higher your order goes. They certainly dont charge more per 1000 or 1300 or 2000 litres than they do for 500 or 300l. Price breaks incentivise larger fills and disincentivise smaller ones.
What I mean is I found some suppliers will charge you more if you go above the normal 300/500/1000L orders. I got quotes for 500L in the past and if I wanted 550L it was costing more per litre than the 500L quote. Their system was just set up that way.
Ive never found that. Its always price reduces once you go past the typical 300/500/1000L orders. Some suppliers also have a step price at 750 or 800L.
I always found it the other way, the larger the order, the better the price.
