Not including presenters not already on the station, who would you like to see getting a show on Radio Nova?
Bit unlikely but I think John Kenny would be a good shout, after that Classic Rock Show he presented on RTÉ.
Tom Dunne - Newstalk (allowed to play music!), former presenter of Pet Sounds on Today FM and Totally Irish on 98FM....and Something Happens! singer
Steve Conway - 8Radio.com (A to Z of Great Tracks), former presenter on Phantom FM
Simon Maher - 8Radio.com (owner as well as presenter), former presenter and originator of Phantom FM
Richie McCormack - Newstalk (sometimes stands in for Tom Dunne), former presenter on Phantom FM
Claire Beck - Today FM, former presenter on Phantom FM / TXFM
Cathal Funge - Today FM (occasionally), former presenter on Phantom FM / TXFM
John Caddell- Today FM (Assistant Controller of Programmes), former presenter on Phantom FM / TXFM (PD when it was TXFM)
Dave McGrath - KFM, previously: a presenter of an Irish rock show on Capital Radio/Rock104, presenter on alternative-oriented rock pirate Capitol Radio/Nitesky Radio
Michael Reade - LMFM, previously: presenter of rock show on pirate Radio Anabel, presenter on alternative pirate Capitol Radio/Nitesky Radio (played mixture of rock in his case)
DJs that chat less and play music more.
Nova "Seriously Repetative Music", maybe someone who doesn't play the same music every day every week every month
I think Steve Conway MIGHT have been on Nova at one point but I'm not 100% certain?
Whoever, whenever. Get Dustin the Turkey in for a weekend slot, so long is the trade off is that Pat Courtney gets the boot.
I am not aware of that. It's theoretically possible but I reckon I would have come across that had that been the case.
Another name is Tony Clayton-Lea. He used to present a rock show on LMFM. It was the only show on that station that I made a point of listening to for a while. He also presented a Saturday mid-morning rock show on Today FM one summer. His main job is as a freelance journalist. He often writes about popular culture and he has written articles for Hot Press.
John Connolly, RTE Gold - presenter of ABC to XTC a new waveish type show. Quite a find over the pandemic.
Hello saaaailoooor... c'est la vie
Nova should be bought by Bauer or wireless group who could then hire Dave Fanning as a flagship presenter. The reality is Branaigan doesn't have the cash to progress Nova and Classic Hits Radio Ireland any further
Nova seeing to be doing just fine without Bauer, Wireless or Dave Fanning!
No, I haven't been there.
But thanks for the mention :-)
Steve
Would love to see John Clarke back but there's as much chance of that as there is of me winning the 'Nova Noise' .
I would as well, he's great at what he does. Semi-retired now though
They could start with adding a few new tunes onto the seriously repetitive playlist. Dad rock is tedious at the best of times.
I actually agree.
By rights Nova should be called Rock 100 and Classic Hits Radio should be called Nova
But Nova isn't a rock station.
In that case it's licence should be terminated, the licence was advertised specifically for a classic rock station
It's been a long time since it's been anywhere near one.
What I wouldn't give for Locals Only back...
The reality actually is Bbbbranigan doesn't have either the brains (more importantly) or the cash to progress it.
What a nasty bitter comment. Reported.
The fact that Classic Hits has recently dumped their lunchtime talk show after 13 years and replaced it with voice tracking is a sign that money is very tight alright
Please God no. I found it SO pretentious filled with untalented wannabes whose Mammies probably told them they were the next U2.
Give me an example please.
Too tight to mention.
my brilliant idea is a daily show where they're not allowed play songs that were released as singles.
Quite a few Led Zeppelin and Rory Gallagher tunes in there so!
well, some rory gallagher tunes might be a bit of a change for nova, so achievement unlocked!
I requested one last year and got a reply from one of their Djs saying that they didn't give him any on the day.
