He'd be outside slapping the Bishop.
With the Burke’s, it’s hard to know whether this is a euphemism or not.
Well, it started out innocent enough, but then the old imagination took over and it grew , if you know what I mean nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more.
lock him up
Update: Next Tuesday...

We all know how this ends, his family are well off. not a penny of fines be paid, It will fizzle out after few weeks/months and he will end up working as a top lawyer. Time the media and everyone else stops giving him the time on air he carves.
Why wouldn't any fines be paid if they are well off?
If your not afraid of going to jail how will they collect the fines? Cost more to put him in jail again for few months and what will it achieve?, they are highly educated people, they know how to work the system.
As you have seen in Ireland if you have no morale compass and dis regard for law like the careys its possible to write off everything.
The evangelical hammer-wielders were arrested, charged, prosecuted and acquitted.
He is a teacher. He has no legal qualifications.
Top doctor then ;)
I see there might be snow in Ireland next week. Wonder if he'll turn up? And if the school closes at the last minute, will he even notice? :)
Solicitor, doctor, whatever … they all require internship. Who in their right mind would take this man on? Unless his sister opens a private practice but I’m not sure if she’s still practicing? Who in their right mind would appoint her to represent them either? She’s not even representing Enoch. She’s only assisting him.
she isnt representing enoch because she requires insurance to practice.
As far as I know she’s only assisting him, not representing him? He is representing himself.
I know. i explained why. she is acting as a mckenzie friend.
Oh okay, so she’s not practicing anymore? That was a short career 😳 Same with Enoch! All that education and they just end up out of work. Odd family! I guess we already knew that though 🤣
she can't practice. she requires insurance before she can get a practicing cert.
Good to know. Disappointing that they are encouraging Burke's delusion that this is about anything other than his behavior. Though there is something to be said for giving him enough rope to hang himself. The argument that schools should not be allowed to be more welcoming to students than the law requires them to be is unlikely to be a winning argument.
He is going to school every day and learning nothing. I don't know how this entire affair will pan out but i'm still thinking that they won't ger a cent in fines from him. A sentence in the Joy will only embelish his reputation and he'll probably write a book about his religious beliefs being punished.
I don't think his family's resources are relevant. The fines are against him, not his family, and can only be collected from him, not from his family.
The family could have a whip round.
They could, but they can't be legally forced to cover his debts.
I don't think anyone is saying the family will be forced to pay his fines.
I doubt they're into whips.
Oh i dont know. they look the sort for a bit of hairshirts and self-flagellation
Burke could have behaved atrociously but if the school didn't dot every T and cross every I, then Burke's dismissal might be deemed to be unfair.
There will be consequences for hm one way or the other regardless of which way the judgement goes - you can't just repeatedly ignore court orders and expect them to back down. Him not being afraid of jail doesn't mean he won't be sent there. Although I agree with you, it's more likely that or some other punishment than him actually paying anything.

I'm going to be cery curious to know where he spends Wednesday morning should the judgement go against him.
That’s the fear. It’s why someone who, for example, is caught stealing can be awarded a payment from the WRC. The court may act likewise.
However, I don’t think they HAVE to reinstate him to his position of employment.
He may get a pyrrhic victory. Gets awarded a payment, which gets allocated against fines owing.
I’d say a court would be very wary about sending someone back to a teaching role with children considering Enoch’s less than conventional behaviour since the original incident.
He will never get good job back, even if he "won" some kind of victory in the courts.
At best he might get a payout of some kind, but he won't see a penny of it.
Another side to this saga, always two sides:- https://www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2023/0304/1360192-enoch-burke/
"In his response to the school, Mr Burke says he has continued to "report for work" since his release from prison in December 2022.
Mr Burke says that he stands outside the school building and that he's greeted almost every day by students either "waving, putting up their hand or making a positive comment". He says first year students consistently wave to him and that students have held up handwritten messages of support from inside an adjacent classroom window asking what they can do to support him and if he needs anything to eat.
Mr Burke says that when he was standing in the school corridor one day, a student gave him a gift bag of scones she had baked herself. He says on another occasion a student asked him for private tuition.
Mr Burke also claims he has had support from parents, one of whom told him he was a hero in their children's eyes as well as "an inspiration needed for young students during these unprecedented times".
Mr Burke also alleges he has received support from staff in the school and that he has not caused any disruption."
