Is he?
His bants with every guest is cringy. And he whispers most of the time. I can barely hear his smooth low quiet voice.
Nathan is the best on otb.
I'd go for Ben gilroy, for best in country.
Joe is streets ahead of the rest on there and its particularly noticeable when he is away. Nathan is just an obnoxious and arrogant class clown whose own attempts at "bants" are quite pathetic.
Completely agree, I remember the marriage equality referendum day where he stood in for one of the heavy hitters like Yeats/Kenny. He was absolutely top class without a mention of sport, just has one of those voices.
Joe is a very good presenter, no doubt. But also an extremely beige man.
100% he is.
The fact he has covered current affairs shows just highlights how good he is. He should be doing it more often in my opinion.
This, he's a bit too safe at times and I think he can also be quite dismissive or uninterested when covering a match or event he has no interest in, especially when it comes to soccer but he's miles ahead of anyone else on OTB.
Joe Molloy isn't always my cup of tea due to what I see as unnecessary virtue signalling on the show.
But his talents as an interviewer and broadcaster came across in the interview with Liam Hayes last night. It really was an excellent listen.
You wouldn't need to have an interest in Gaelic Football or sport in general to get something from the interview. Kudos to both men for it.
Heard Hayes on second captains, man’s a dinosaur in terms of his attitude to Gaelic football
It wasn't about Gaelic Football really. More of a human interest story. Recalled his brothers death by suicide, his parents using Liams Meath career as a sort of a coping mechanism, his relationship or lack thereof with former teammates and how a working sports journalists was playing in an all ireland final.
Ok, I kind of lost all respect for him in what he was saying about modern GAA which was out of touch hard man stuff. I have heard him talk about the personal family stuff before.
Is Liam Hayes the "hurt them, kill them, injure them" idiot?
Kieran Cunningham was talking about Irish sports stars who follow Andrew Tate on Twitter on the paper review.
anyone able to tell me who these sports stars are?
Cunningham is painful.
Why would that be a relevant topic?
A follow doesn't mean support.
It’s doesn’t mean support but I guess in percentage probability it likely means support
I don't agree at all. Many people put "retweet is not an endorsement"
Insinuations made from who people follow is low.
I’ll agree to disagree
They need to know who to avoid and not bring on the show. The woke lads on OTB wet the bed very easily
I listened to the Liam Hayes interview. It was a great listen. The time flew by. Very interesting guy and very independent too. The story around his brother is very moving. He's not serious all the time either, I really enjoyed the Jack O Shea anecdote too.
Joe Molloy is a brilliant broadcaster and interviewer. He did challenge Liam Hayes about his attitude towards the Michelle Smyth story back in the day. He's got a very good interviewing style. Then again Liam Hayes is also a person who will talk plenty so he's an easy interviewee!
I just tuned in. A segment on WSL. Is there a sufficient market of listeners hear for it?
Put on a podcast instead
Is there a sufficient market of listeners hear for it?
Yes.
The WSL is being forced upon people from every direction.
They have a weekly podcast on women's football. COYGIG. Come on you girls in green.
Of course. Everyone loves the wsl.
It's very popular. Anything that Ger and the guys do is popular.
Can't wait for the world cup. Love the way they talk about it constantly.
I'll be singing all my ira songs when we're in Australia. Coywig
What, 8 minutes a week out of the 26 hours of FM output equals 'being forced upon people from every direction'.
How do you think women with an interest in football feel about the 15 hours or whatever it is (on one station) that the men's game gets?
If you had a teenage daughter who played soccer, don't you think you would want her to be able to identify some path to her playing it more long term or having idols to aspire to?
The fragility coming across from the second post here in particular is pretty telling to be honest.
Right on dude.
I look forward to the world Cup. Ooh ahh
I don't understand the hating of limited coverage of women's sport.
It's immature lads that haven't grown up from their teenage years having to say women's sport is crap at every opportunity.
If you think it's crap thats grand but stop going on about it
Yet the same fellas don't understand at all that just ignoring it isn't going to make the sports any better.
This is as bad that women's sport is going to get. When you see all of the work going on at grassroots to have more girls involved in sport, the standard will increase massively over the next 10 years.
However, forward-thinking isn't really a strength of some of the moanbags.
No coverage of the Airtricity League between 9 and 10 this evening, Shamrock Rovers and Cork drawing 4-4. Last hour probably a pre-record. Lazy stuff
I'm not a charity. I'm not gonna be interested in a sport to develop it.
The standard could increase 10 fold in 10 years and I'd still have no interest as every other grouping will improve standards as much.
I'm not gonna place women on some pedestal just because they're women. Girls don't need to see girls play to play sport or be interested in it.
