@thomil As for the E-6B, I don't remember these aircraft going far beyond US air space, or permanent US Bases, before, though that might simply be due to lack of media coverage.

They have been seen over Europe and the UK semi regularly since the 2000's but depending on where you get your information it's the first time a particular block upgrade aircrafts might have visited despite the previous pre upgraded aircraft having been flying over

A Ukrainian presidential aide has described explosions heard in three Russian provinces bordering Ukraine as “karma” and payback for Vladimir Putin’s war.

The blasts on Wednesday in southern Russia followed a major fire this week at a Russian oil storage facility in the Bryansk region near the border.

Without directly admitting that Ukraine was responsible, presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak said it was natural that Russian regions where fuel and weapons are stored were learning about “demilitarisation”.

Depends whether you are a lawyer or not.

However, considering as disingenuous, the issuing of an official denial, because of a history of not issuing official claims of reponsibility, is not something that should be done.

I found out today who Putin’s ex wife is alledged to have married a while back. Anyone else see this?

Does he actually say he's going to Bakmut anywhere? His tweets imply that it's somewhere terrible alright but he doesn't specify. I can't see any tweets on that Mriya account although it does link to an interview with him so perhaps he is more specific there.

Heading to Bakmut now seems like it might be quite foolhardy. I just hope that if they are being sent there that it's a decision that is being made by generals and not politicians.

His name has been Linked to rip Rawlings scams lately, rip Rawlings is another ex American forces who turned up in Ukraine then went on a fundraising tour of America attaching himself to Ukrainan units he's never served with while taking credit for pulling off victories against the Russians

This bodes well - you don’t sue for peace from a position of strength, certainly not if you are Putin. I know the piece says Belarus, but we know Luko doesn’t take a piss without checking with Putin if it’s okay.

The Russians are throwing everything at Bakhmut and their advance is minuscule/ I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the final straw for even Putin. He knows he’s going to lose, and desperately wants his off ramp.

I’ll personally wave them out of Crimea from the Ukraine side of the bridge.

In all seriousness, I hope someone prints those in A4 and puts them in Olafs IN basket. Should be good for a dozen tornados and a dozen more Leopard 2s - latest spec.

Josey, its not a question of "almost total control"...they have, and have had complete control since Putin took power. And ordinary Russians, maybe not all, but most of them know full well that their Government is as corrupt as they come, and always has been, but they've been powerless to change it. How do you bring changes in a Country where general ( or any) election results are known before the election?? Russia is a mafia state with Don Putin at its head. There will have to be a cataclysmic event to bring enough people out in protest. Tens of thousands won't do the trick..they quelled these kind of Nrs before, the protesters will have to be in their millions, and prepared to fight. When the dead and injured Russian soldiers from the Makiivka bombing ( They had been gathered there to hear Putin's speech ,but there were weapons stored in the basement, and the Ukrainian's hit it, reportedly killing 400 and injuring many) these soldiers were predominantly from the Samara region, and when their dead had been buried, and their injury's had been fixed up, they were sent back to Ukraine, despite their and the People from Samara's protests. So you can imagine massive death toll from one area, with massive protests, but nothing changed. Tha'ts the kind of grip Putin has.

Besides the point, but a country having "negative history with Russians" - I wonder if there are any countries who have a positive history with Russia?

In the current climate in Putins Russia, registering as unemployed could mean being directed to the nearest mobilization office....

The Baltics are wonderful places to visit, and so is Russia, quite incredible though it may seem. They had quite a good tourist industry built up, until Putin singlehandedly destroyed it. like everything he touches.

The countries who voted for them in recent UN vote might think that:

Belarus, Nicaragua, Syria, North Korea, Eritrea and Mali.

Although fairly debateable Russian involvement long term in their country has been beneficial...

Think about it , Syria they kept Assad in power while bombing parts of the country back to the Stone age ala Afghanistan in the 80s ,

Belarus is essentially occupied territory and about to be reinstated as part of mother Russia, Mali is a similar story help put a puppet in power and push out the french while Wagner rape's the natural resources and mines ,

North Korea weapons Market since the end of the Korean war which was instigated by Russia with military and political support, but I think china has more of a day in NK than Russia ever did, north Korea is a buffer for China from south Korea and the Americans

Those are bunkers more than houses. You can see the steel reinforcing used in every wall of those two buildings. The two storey one already built has a concrete roof likely reinforced. Most likely that one the inspiration for the two new ones being built.

Farmers in this country building silage pits and slurry pits would be familiar with this type of building. But it wouldn't be followed for the dwelling house.

Those are being built to withstand bomb blasts, withstand electronic interference either in or out. A tomb, fortress, prison, take your pick as the use.

I lived in Moscow and travelled around North West Russia during most of the Nineties. Visited some of the Baltic countries as well. History, ancient and modern, every few yards it seemed. The 50th anniversary of the end of WWII was a good time to be there. Fascinating country and people with terrible cooking. Good friends when you get to know them but very little in the way of trust or empathy for strangers.

I was not there for any of Putin's time but can understand how he gained control as he did. Many Russian people admire a strong leader even if supporting that leader may not be in their own self interest. I'm hoping the next few months will see the Russian army chased out of Ukraine with reparations for the destruction and barbarity of the past year. Our company had some customers in Russia but we won't be dealing with them again, regardless of how things turn out.

    More re Bakhmut.

It seems that Ukraine want to hold Bakhmut as long as they can at all costs. Maybe even 'till a new major Spring offensive is launched.

That building development at the back right hand side of the picture is below ground level.

You could take for granted the one on the left of it was similar done with a level below ground.

If I remember correctly at one point they wanted to extend the basement area which they have for permission to cover the whole footprint of the compound, pretty extensive for an embassy in a small neutral state,
