Aye. Not just the CEO but a clan of the Toyoda family and the grandson of the founder of Toyota himself. No small feat over there, very different from ousting a CEO in our western world. Could be too little, too late though. In just a few years time literally nobody in any of the important car markets will want to buy a combustion car anymore
They've just replaced the CEO with the head of Lexus. His remit is to refocus on electrification. I'm guess it's going to be 2027 until we see real progress from them.
Well Kodak and Nokia both still exist, so I doubt Toyota will disappear.
They've got the Japanese government wrapped around their finger on hybrids and hydrogen and that'll be enough to sustain them for the foreseeable future
However they won't be the biggest car company in the world for long at this rate
They'll probably just end up buying up a smaller company for their technology and using that, if their own efforts keep falling flat
Jesus. Time is running out very fast for Toyota. They could be gone within a decade. From the biggest car maker in the world to bankrupt within a decade. Sounds like Kodak.
One of the lads posted in the bz4x thread, saying they watched some of the live stream…. Apparently cold/fast gated ta fcuk…..
Probably had to stop to reattach the tires and wheels a few times
Where'd you see that? I don't think he's got the video up yet?
That's down at Zoe and Leaf speeds 🤦♂️

Costs more than a Model Y
Ouch!
Yes quite possibly. Does it say Rex on the back I wonder? I forgot to look..
Well, one is great, and the other is also great, so I imagine the combination of both can only be better 😁
And that EV in your picture is probably only a PHEV 😂
In Phnom Penh atm, have traveled most of the country and this is the first EV I have seen. There is an unofficial Tesla centre just opened near airport, must drop in and have a look. There are a good few electric scooters and many electric Tuk Tuks, but unfortunately they are the uninteresting looking Indian 3 wheel version, rather than the classic motor cycle pulled carriage. Afaik there is no charging infrastructure as yet anywhere in the country.
I find that is more a matter of instant torque than the actual size of the car 😂
I can see the attraction in the city centre being able to weave through gaps that bigger cars can't manage
I used an Uber in Munich for 3 of us and a Zoe arrived. It was a squeeze alright but got us there anyway.
Spotted a Zoe taxi today, first I've seen
Great for going electric, but I can't imagine he's getting too many airport runs.
I was tempted to rock up with the family and two big suitcases to see what he'd say 😁
I'm not in any way suggesting that able bodies drivers (including those who happen to have blue badges on their cars) should use these spaces, it's just that I rarely see disabled spaces fully occupied.
I read that article and I must say in my experience during peak times dedicated disabled spaces are very often the only free parking spot in many car parks.
Maybe in small carparks, but in my experience at larger carparks such as supermarkets, able-bodied drivers who take disabled parking bays are simply too selfish and lazy to walk an extra 30 seconds from a normal parking bay.
Exactly - universal access.
Agree with that too by the way, just don't mark them all as blue badge only.
Every bay for chargers but DC specifically should be wider than a parking bay as you say to allow for weird angles.
I much prefer the approach of making every charging space accessible that way it leaves a bit of space for the weird angles and prevents any discrimination.
We have a blue badge holder in the family and our M3 has the blue badge in it. Combining scarce resources like disabled parking spots and ev charging bays into one where you must be in both subgroups to use it, is a silly idea.
Do people think there is a difference between iceing a disabled parking spot and temporarily stopping to charge in one but never actually leaving the car, especially in the current context of very limited charge point availability?
I read that article and I must say in my experience during peak times dedicated disabled spaces are very often the only free parking spot in many car parks. I'm wondering if some of these full spaces being referred are being legitimately taken by disabled drivers. Maybe more such spaces are required?
Majority of chargers here are on private land so such laws would relatively ineffectual.
Only need to look at the problems with disabled parking bays on private lands.
That’s actually a good idea, penalty points
New South Wales have legislated for ICEing. Anyone doing it gets up to 20 “penalty units”, where a penalty unit is AU$110.
A sunshade is arguably more needed at European charging stations than a rain shade is needed at Irish charging stations. In the European scenario, the shade will reduce the amount of aircon you'll need and will help you charge faster. Plus, it's more pleasant to wait in shade with aircon off and doors open, than in exposed sun with aircon on. Whereas in Ireland the rain shelter will only stop you getting wet, but won't impact your charging time.
You'd struggle to find the sun in the sky here on some days 😬
Anyway, it's good to see Ionity have rediscovered the age old trick of putting a cover over the humans to stop them being miserable and I would like to see more of it
I've seen vertical rainfall
It was moving upwards after bouncing off the ground, but still vertical 😁
Anyway can we have some shelters over our chargers please? You can put sun shelters over them if you want, they'll keep some of the rain off 😂
Rain shelters work outside Ireland, I think we're the only place where the rain goes every direction except vertical
That’s no rain shelter…..
