I give a few eby to monti cross cows. They make nice calves. I give the rift raft Angus to the shook cows LOL
R grade cattle which will make up for the Angus bonus and paid for an extra 60 or 70kg too.
I do but I’m not selling as weaklings. As stores/fat stock they are doing as well as any. Sold 3 500-550kg heifers in Delvin on Thursday a Lmx, bbx and PTX. PTX was the best performer
What PT bull are you using? What do people think of Aubrac?
VUL breeds great replacements. Lots of milk
ZGH works well on most stock
my first Gainsbarre landed the other day. Lovely Roan so of course it’s a boy
Maybe next year you’ll get a heifer (says the guy who had 5 SI bulls from his best CH cow)
Was there any bull breed to produce better calves off the VUL cows
I cant say I have enough of a sample size to answer that definitively but blondes and limos and simmintals have all worked well
Thanks. Tempted to use VUL hoping for a heifer. Should bring good softness.
Go for it!
Only 50% here yet, but waiting for the first 75% calf fom the heifer at the end of April. Also have plans to buy a couple pure heifers this year. Overall nice animals, easy calved. A neighbour had three Parthenaise sired calves born from pure Aubrac heifers. All calved unassisted, bright calves. Three last year calves. The first heifer from plain limx cow, second heifer from blondexlimx heifer. This year will have abit more parthenaise sired calves. Currently using french bulls Ilus and Lamparo, but had only one Lamparo calf born yet. Ilus first calves should arrive soon.
Sold PTx out of CHx cow 360kg €3/kg..
Couple of small PTx cows here cross well with CH or LM even better. Small but great shape after couple wks.
Super calf, what sire?
I'd be a big fan of the pt cows too. Good length n style to them.
Sicilian stock bull, Cow is ZGH
Very fertile and docile too, easy to work with
Here's a Vulain cow off a rocky cow in background with her Zsd BB calf.Cant fault Vulain.
Bull and heifer of a parthanaise x cow
Anyone here use Lapon CH4321 yet? If so, what ye think?
Most used ch bull in Ireland. Easy calving not spectacular tho
Super calves. What Bull are these from?
Haven’t used him, lots are happy with him. AI tech speaks well of Orbi
Many use Tomschoice Nation? How they turn out? I've nice heifer calf just born but interested to see if they progress
Have used him a few times. Very easy calved. Calves dont look like much in my experience early on, but develop with age. I’ve a nice yearling Pedigree heifer off a nippur dam, improving every day. I’ll try get a picture tomorrow
I’ve a tidy Knottown Roy heifer ready for AI in the coming weeks. What would ye put into her for the first calving? Is it better to put an AA into her rather than using a different SA bull?
I sold a Knottown Roy x Highfield Odran heifer to a neighbour, she had a Spiddal Pat heifer calf the other day, haven’t seen it yet, small and lively he says. Have never put an Angus on a Saler heifer. A really easy calving Lim like Ivor could be an option if she’s a good strong heifer.
Here’s the Lapon heifer I was on about Patsy. Just out in grass the past week, starting to clean up abit
I've ine incalculable to zag in April, nice looking animal, big frame. Quite too
Jss mother loyal stock bull calf. Some bag of milk on her.
JSS are milky, good calvers and rear a quality calf. The few we have were much smaller than their mothers
Took a notion last spring and gave this heifer Saler. Delighted with this Knotstown Roy heifer calf. A keeper
