Folks the inlaw are looking at buying some houses around the town. I've pottered upto one or two for a walk about and asked the neighbours but nobody can give me an idea.
What is meadowfields like as an estate?
Came across this guy touring the Castle. Was genuinely depressing to see what's been done to it. Looks like 80% bloody posters.
Around 12.30 on the video if interested. Definitely be looking for my fiver back.

Hi. Looking for a recommendation for a TV/Cable company in Enniscorthy to repair some damage to cables running from modem to sky box - a puppy thought it would be fun to chew through some cable! Wifi / SKY down.
The house in question is in the town centre - near the Riverside Hotel.
Thanks.
Will need to replace cables. Can prob be done yourself to be honest depending on the damage.
Normally, yes I would. However, its my EX that is living there - I'm a 75-minute drive away so trying to get someone local if possible.
Plan to remove parking and through traffic from the Market Square and Abbey Square.
alternative routes do get very busy as is around school time and rush hour.
Among the proposed changes is phased pedestrianisation of Market Square, with restriction and ultimately elimination of all through traffic along with expansion of footpaths to provide usable urban space and traffic control measures on Main Street. There would also be left-turn only exiting to Irish Street at the junction with Market Square, one-way improvement at Irish Street to the Barrack Street junction at Dunne’s Stores, and improvement of the public space to Island Road.
The phased pedestrianisation of Castle Hill, with restriction and ultimately, elimination of all through traffic from Market Square and Abbey Square is also outlined in the plan.
They’d want to be looking at deciding whether Irish street becomes a one way or street parking is done away with. It’s a bloody nightmare going down that way to dunnes if you come up past the FDYS and orchard park.
When the Christmas lights were turned on, I was at a standstill for nearly 10 minutes because a lady driving a Puma was too afraid to take the gap she had. No one could move either way while she expected us all to disappear to suit herself I suppose.
Disaster that spot.
Should eliminate parking on both sides outside the Cathedral. Trucks are forever getting stuck there.
well, I’d say if you’re driving a truck or lorry down a street that’s clearly too narrow, that’s you being silly. 😅
That said street parking in Enniscorthy needs serious looking at. It’s a fcuking disgrace. But the fact is if they stop it they need to have a replacement available. I was thinking they’d do well to just flatten that derelict building across from dunnes and make that a car park. Could also do as a skate park, to be fair.
Id love to flatten the whole town and just start building again like. I’d really like also if the council finished projects before planning new ones. (ahem, the flood defence…..)
The bin lorry got stuck there yesterday morning for ages. Delivery and maintenance trucks all have to go get down there.
That bit outside Dario's old place is too narrow for parking both sides.
As i say— where else can they go sure! Parking wise I mean. I’d love to know how much outrage will stem when folks working in rafter street, weafer street & market sq, when they phase out driving and whatnot in the area. Have to park around pettits or dunnes and walk down I suppose?
it will be interesting to see how it pans out.
If you can't drive up or down the town alternative routes will presumably be the grand boulevards of Borheen Hill and Friary Hill/Hospital Lane.
yea I know where you’d have to go instead but some nightmare for people especially shops getting deliveries I’d love to know how they’ll suss that one?
Speaking of deliveries.. getting mighty sick of 3-4 times a day dunnes delivery trucks blocking the island road while the back in. I know it’s not their fault, but I’d love to see that put a stop to.
This town has an availability of space on the outskirts just take that field beside drive on the dublin road, they could easily stick a shopping mall in there or even do one better and stick a county central shopping mall out the other end of the dublin road. Few buses and a terminal that's links all the major towns to each other in Enniscorthy would be unbelievably smart. Imagine busing it from most of the larger towns without any hassle.
Kind if like what they are doing with liffey valley without the parking charge outrage.
I wonder when they're done resurfacing roads like the Mill Park Rd that look to the untrained eye in good condition will they do the ones that are obviously in rag order?
why would they do that? Sure that’s hard work.
Whats everybody make of this solutions wise is there a way to make the one way system permanent and not reliant on the clubs putting stewards on?
Add the Bus Connect Bus to that list. Barely gets by when everyone is properly parked.
Planning Authority won't let anybody build anything more than two feet outside the town centre. Population is increasing everywhere, loads of new estates in the planning and yet no prospect of progress. They'll spend a fortune on a ridiculous bridge to supposedly rejuvenate the Templeshannon area that has absolutely nothing to offer.
Our out of town shopping continues to be Wexford.
Think that’s most people. Outside of the supermarkets the town has nothing of use really.
Unless it’s a haircut, phone repair, drink or takeaway you need 🙄
What was once a mighty market town with a solid rural hinterland has been brought to it's knees and made to serve the incidental interests of Greater Dublin & Wexford County Council.
what exactly has Dublin council had in the way of influence of Enniscorthy o.O
??? Greater Dublin increasingly sucks in commuters from further & further away. It's a behemoth gobbling up regional assets. It's also the principle reason why the south east, despite being one of the more heavily populated parts, suffers from neglect and the steady diminution of basic public services. The SE exists in a no mans land, part of a ring of death around Greater Dublin. And Enniscorthy has been pulled towards this vortex for many years now.
I think you’re looking for the CT forum lad…
Well oh expert one.. tell us why you think the once fine town of Enniscorthy has gone into serious decline.
Inform us of the population, their profile, where they work or don't work. Tell us about employment in Enniscorthy. What do you make of the slow but steady decline of small shops & businesses that once populated the streets. Tell us how & where people shop and go for entertainment.
I look forward to your analysis of the town & hinterland. That is assuming you actually know and/or think on these matters.
It’s gone the way it has because the council and others have refused to allow advances and modernisation.
Wexford (or Gorey) is your go to for shopping & ent.
The nature of retail has changed everywhere with internet shopping. Frankly I don't know how a lot that are there survive.
Chain stores can compete and should be allowed to develop on the outskirts to service an increasing population. The focus on town centres should be on residential not retail.
Wexford is piss poor for shopping aswell gorey or carlow are the go to from here
How is Gorey better than Wexford for shops?? Mad man!!
Most of the smaller stores seem to be occupied at the moment in fairness, apart from those on Castle Street that seem to be perpetually empty.
