And then everyone jumped on the hype train, and most people had no issues getting it in 2021 and 2022.
What makes you think 2023 will be anything like 2020?
MVR was on sale this morning, managed to nab a bottle, now showing as sold out but worth monitoring as there were issues with the online sales in the pre Xmas release.
Got one myself. Website was quite slow, so I wonder did too many people in the business know about it being launched.
From the picture, I'm guessing they have switched to cardboard box for the 2023 ?
Looks like it was sold out before the launch email went out. Bit of a shambles.
Not from IDL's point of view,if they are all sold out!
I’d imagine this is attempting to reinforce that it is limited which I know there have been questions about.
Well yes it's limited... To 100,000+ bottles! 😁
But either way, I don't see it as a shambles from IDL's point of view.
I'd argue that they know exactly what they are doing.
It seems that there were 500 bottles online, and at least 2 pallets in shop.
It was flying out the door, even idl staff were in the Q to buy.
No . Launch email went out at midday, and it was all (500) gone in 11 minutes.
It was known that it was being launched this week, I was told on Monday that it would be released on Wednesday.
I’m not an arguer on forums so I’ll leave it here.
As someone that was monitoring this for weeks, signed up to the official distribution list and is a Barrel Club member, this was a shambles. I can’t agree that it was known as I received no info on this based on the above
This was my experience, it may not have been yours.
It wasn't publicly known, but it was mentioned in certain private arenas.
As for the barrel club, you should have gotten an email today, telling you that they will send you a link in 5 days time, so you can buy your bottle.
Thanks for the extra info. Haven’t received anything from Barrel Club. Checked junk/spam folder as a precaution too but nothing there.
It’s fine, I may have been expecting too much as someone that’s gotten into this within the past 12 months.
They'll only hold an MVR, if you selected that option when renewing the barrel club on year 2.
Option wasn't there for first time subscribers.
As a collector piece the box doesn't look great, I wonder will that take some of the hype out of it?
I got a bottle last year to keep on a shelf so happy with that.
Saying that I'm sure they'll be plenty on sale by the end of the year if I wanted to actually try the stuff 🤣
Did they publish a list of retailers?
They used in the past and it included Dunnes, Tesco and all the usuals, anybody see it today?

How does it not look great? It's a better design than the previous box, it just isn't made out of average wood.
If anyone manages to get bottle number 8923, I'll pay a decent price and whatever else I can do.
I know chances are slim, but if I don't ask, won't receive.
Well the last one opens all fancy. 23 one is just a cardboard box
Are the boxes/tubes not there to keep the whiskey out of sunlight and maintaining temp? Agree bottles look much better in the nip but figured the manufacturer knew better than I.
Saw one today and my friendly o'briens staff member opened it to show me.
The box is shaped and sized and opens the same as the recent year's boxes, only it's made of a hollow, yet sturdy cardboard instead of wood.
Oh and I can confirm also (as we all suspected/heard) the outer sack/bag has been done away with too.
I presume you haven't held a '23
It's more than just a cardboard box, it's well designed and sturdy, but give me back the timber box.
You saw one but didn't buy it?
As already mentioned, it's not just a cardboard box like you think it is.
I keep my whiskey in a press, away from sunlight and temperature fluctuations anyway. I don't boxes and tubes would help with temp anyway. I see them mostly as marketing devices!
They had been taking names on a waiting list for several weeks, so that bottle had been designated to someone and was due to be picked up yesterday evening.
They are purely for marketing purposes.
