The king is dead, long live the king.
Only 102 days to lights out for 2023..
Right, because from 2014-2020 F1 was sooooooo much better. The era where you had a team who directly influenced the PU rules, ran the car in lower modes to hide performance and get a token system for upgrades implemented to bake in that advantage, and availed of secret tire tests with their drivers in unmarked helmets to hide the fact it was them.
You talk about uncompetitiveness...that is ironic.
Alpine launch at 8PM tonight. Looking forward to see how they will do this season.
Sure. But I didn't say 2014-2020 were 'the days'.
Now that Alonso has left they'll probably be winning races 🙂
Difficult to picture them anywhere but midfield, I guess you never know, they have a lot to prove.
I made reference to the simple design and the V10s, you waffled on about politics as if it it only happened during that era.
Another "meh" livery
I like it. Looks well with the minimal painted areas.
Cars have so much black on them this year.
Unfortunately they sacrificed a lot of the blue instead of the pink.
You said 'those were the days' of the West Mclaren era. I didn't say anything about the 2014-2020 era.
Not sure why you want me to defend the latter era.
The pink BWT cars were good when they were the whole livery. Now the pink is just shoehorned into other liveries like he AM and Alpine. Doesn't look as good.
The carbon fibre might be here to stay for a while. Last year lots of them saved weight by stripping paint. Bow they would be fools to waste weight by painting the whole car. I wonder if they'll make a rule to say they have to paint most of the car. Otherwise they'll all need to get down to the weight limit before they waste weight on paint.
Cars look better if they're painted. This year, pretry much all the cars are black or raw carbon fibre on the bottom half.
Not looking for you to defend anything.
I wasn't referring to the McLaren era either, I never said that. I merely pointed out that I liked the simpler designs and the V10's, never said anything about the racing, the team or the drivers. You made that part up yourself.
Time moves on people, we're nearly quarter way through the 21st century.
Alpine will be running their "Racing Point" livery in the first 3 races of the season.
I think the Alpibe is the best looking car yet. Really hoping they can do well this year and even win some races.
Are they doing a Special livery again this year like last year with the car for the first three races all in pink?
If so that is great. I seen two cars on the Podium on the You-Tube video but missed the beginning of it.
Williams and McLaren look good to me in the photos, maybe the Mercedes. Will really need to see them on the track to know for sure
Visually the Aston and the Alpine look like the cars that have been most aggressive in their development. Would be great to see one or both of them getting in amongst the top 3 in any way consistently, but it's probably unrealistic to expect that.
she is only really there as a box ticking exercise.....thats the way of the world these days.
Well this is obviously nonsense.
Ah, you get that. Some people think a woman, a black person or, heaven forbid, a black woman, couldn't have an interesting insight. They assume she must be a box ticking exercise.
On the contrary, I think people apart from white middle aged men who make it to positions of prominence in a sport with a generally conservative, backwards looking fan base, need to be very good.
Karun Chandok is an example. He gives really good, sober, insightful analysis. But the likes of Jonny Herbert can stroll in and spout any old guff because he looks broadly like the majority of the audience. How he survived this long is purely a function of demographics.
She was not hired for her interesting insight and it would be very naive to think that.
And Jonny Herbert was?
I don’t know why Jonny was there, maybe he is a British race driver with multiple F1 wins podiums and a extensive race history extending over a decade. But I don’t know.
She's proof that if somebody is given a chance they can bring excellent insight and coverage to the sport. While Herbert is proof that being a former f1 driver doesn't make you a decent pundit.
Given a choice, I would listen to her over Herbert any day.
Di Resta was a better Pundit then Naomi. Why is she there and he gets kicked?
Naomi offers more insight and balanced coverage than the lot of them put together (with the exception of DRi), she’s a breath of fresh air on Sky and absolutely brilliant, but I agree with Jazz….. that’s not why she’s there!
While I would ask why Hill or Coultard is still there and not Di Resta
All that and terrible chat and analysis. I'd have thought chat and analysis would be the most important aspects of the job. But I don't know...
You're crossing the streams there. Coulthard is C4 where the others are Sky. I like Coulthard. Think he's decent. Stephen Jones is a dose but that's another story
Apologies I thought Coulthard was Sky
