I also had issues accessing the app yesterday. Server maintenance error. Today is slow to connect but atlwast the widget is back to showing battery percentage.
Hi All,
Just a super quick one for ye. I just ordered our M3 ( like literally in the last 2 hrs LOL). I just noticed in the app that the amount due is 5K more than the price under our reservation number and in the order agreement. I presume this is because the SEAI grant hasn't been applied for yet. Would I be right? Also, any idea when that's email out?
Thanks all :)
Hi and welcome. Better to ask in the deliveries thread for 3 and Y.
Correct on the 5k, assuming you picked one under the grant price.
As to an email, could be any time between now and a few weeks before delivery.
Surely the Castlebellingham SuC is after the Ardee turn off?
Not being pedantic, but I've been working out the logistics of a Letterkenny to Dublin return trip and presumed that I'd use Castlebellingham and then go home via Newry and Dublin.
Would the Ionity at City North be an option if looking to return home via Ardee?
Yes exactly, you pay the net amount minus the grant
Evening All,
So things have worked out and I will be collecting my first electric car this weekend (M3).
Was hoping that somebody that has been through this process could advise in terms of steps to take to ensure all goes smooth with final checks on car and transfer of ownership with the app etc.
I’m completely new to all this so haven’t got a clue. Maybe it’s a simple change but I see Tesla app and Tessie app in App Store?
Really looking forward to the weekend now. ☺️
Any and all advice welcome.
Yes, just like every other garage in the country, they look after the grant and apply it to the price before collection.
Tesla app.
tessie is third party.
are you buying new, second hand etc?
Apologies I should have said second hand.
Went with Finance Ireland through Tesla. I looked at other options but the rates available with bank, CU etc for me weren't any better. Check your local CU, or apparently An Post have an OK deal.
Dealer or private?
No different.
Drive to your abilities and the conditions. Adjust for the weather as normal.
Private sale 👍🏻
Ok, so I can narrow down the response now 😃
The current owner can go into their Tesla account on the App or online from the phone once you buy.
Make sure you have a Tesla account and app installed (although I’m not 100% sure this is required at this stage).
The current owner clicks the “sold car to a third party” and they input your details. You then get a prompt to take ownership.
if all that doesn’t work then once you get the VLC, you email a copy of it to Tesla and they give you control through the app.

good news, hopefully this also means a new set of superchargers, although they are still desperately needed in the northwest of the country.
Revolut is 5.9%. Not sure if that’s fixed or variable.
AIG are supposed to be competitive. Haven't tried them yet myself but someone on here good a competitive qoute for a Y off them.
Yep I did
The best quote I had by far was from 123.ie.
Have found it good, much better than my wife's 3 series. Haven't had a skid or slide over 4 winters
There is a lot more weight in the car and in particular over the rear wheels vs. a normal front engine, rwd car. That gives the rear wheels more traction.
Also, there is a 'Slip Start' mode on Teslas.
They say to use it in loose surfaces e.g. snow, sand or mud.
I've never used it but it seems to be a traction control / limited slip mode.
I got a great quote from Aviva last Sep–new model3 was cheaper than my previous car 2016 A4
You might check Creane and Creane, I found them very helpful.
I entered a Tesla reg on chill today and it found the car. No quote given, but was looking for someone with no driving history.
Go through a broker like First Ireland. Otherwise it's a pain if you haven't had private motor insurance within 2 years.
There's a broker in Sandymount that my friend uses for his taxi insurance, Brian J Pierse. He always said that he got good quotes from them.
Yeah, been with them for years with a couple of years break. They are trading as campion now.
I have 2 unrelated questions hopefully somebody can guide me.
1st, I have a scheduled collection on the 21st of March. Realistically, how long before the date you get your reg number?
and second, I understand the tesla wall charger does not allow for start and end times (to take advantage of EV charge rates ). Is there any workaround to this?
Agree here. I had a rwd Mercedes before my M3 and I feel that the M3 handles a lot better in the ice. Also agree that it is most likely down to the low centre of gravity and weight distribution of the batteries.
Aside: in general I find that it handles really well on minor roads. Holds a corner really well and a very direct feel through the steering. I have never felt any understeer (yet anyway) when I have had to push it. Very enjoyable to take it for a spirited drive!
The Tesla Wall charger is not great and has a number of disadvantage and certainly not future proof, have a read of the Home Charge Point thread.
I'd go for likes of Zappi2 instead
