"Your security code will be sent to your phone. It may take up to 10 minutes to arrive and is valid for 10 minutes and 3 seconds."

Clicking 'Re-send code' will lead to a situation where you'll never get a valid code and will be locked out of your account.

Oh yeah, then there's Ryanair wanting to confirm a new device. Fck me if I miss a flight 'cos it won't let me log in I'll march RIGHT to their desk and tell them their system isn't great could you please provide me a boarding pass, here's a screenshot of the error message on the site.

(The more people who do this, the higher the chance they'll rectify the stupidity).

    It is what it's.

Hahaha, the dumb one who dealt with the ads was kept on, left and seems to have been replaced by someone even more clueless.

    It is what it's.

My ultimate TA is that the presenter is so used to the physics of the game by now that half way down he calls it. Cheers lad, there goes any form of suspense. And the clinky noise doesn't match the size or plastic material the coins are made of. Some poor sap pushing a sound effect button every single time 😶

    It is what it's.

Yeah - Ben (Shepard) does tend to do that a lot doesn't he - I wouldn't say it annoys me per se, but I have made the same observation as yourself when watching it recently. I get a certain satisfaction when someone jumps the gun too early on a question and it turns out that the question is not what they had expected and have given completely the wrong answer.

The amount of cars being driven around with filthy rear licence plates!

The usual thing about the State spending about 200k a year to send ministers around the world on Patrick’s Day. It’s incredible value for money. It would still be great value at 5 times the cost.

What other tiny country gets such access to the US President each year?

It’s catnip for the boring outrage merchants on Twitter though.

This is NOT a dig at @Be right back but TA at Americanisms sneaking in - e.g in Ireland it's a Registration plate

I notice the odd americanism sneaking in too, with me, beyond TA Also due to the constant mix up between there/their etc I find myself doubting my own spelling 🤬

Oops, I would have always called it a licence or number plate. At least I spelt it as licence, not license!

My TA today is people who write draws when they are talking about drawers (furniture).

"Cannot be named for legal reasons"

    What are the legal reasons?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 22,743 ✭✭✭✭Leg End Reject

It's obvious who it is though so why bother.

I'll be TA if you're not talking about what I think you are.

There's two mentions of it this week.

And another one last year that I'm pretty sure said "can never be named for legal reasons"

    Happy birthday!

It could be worse, you could have been born on Valentines Day.

Had that very problem yesterday. Code arrived but no matter how many times I checked it ' invalid code ' Then followed by ' you've entered an invalid code too many times ' . For your safety you can't log in for X days. But thanks to my goldfish memory I can't remember which site it was so it's put on the long finger.

    Thanks!

My TA is that my parents decided to call me Valentine anyway. 😒

    (Nah, not really.) 😉

I just snapped a pin off my phone charger!

Hopefully that's easily fixed, provided that the wire isn't "heat sealed" (what's the word I'm looking for, damn it?) into it, otherwise you'll need a wire stripper and a pair of strong scissors, or secateurs.

Cumbersome quick fix, force it into a double adapter and use it to plug into mains

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,219 ✭✭✭oneweb

If you're gonna do it, do it right - it's a reg plate 😜

    It is what it's.

[EDIT: Fourth thought] : If you've got it fairly recently, bring it back to where you bought it and tell them that shouldn't have happened.

[EDIT: Third thought] : Looking at the charger, the quality probably indicates it better to recycle that one and buy a different one instead of trying to find adapters to use it with 😆

[EDIT: second thought] : You can put the plastic pin (if you've still got it) into the slot on one of these and keep using it anywhere (although much bulkier! 😄)

(This was my first thought) : OK, the things I'm about to suggest are so dangerous that I throw them into electrical recycling the second I see them (they've got absolutely no safety standards and as far as I'm aware aren't certified for sale in IE/UK), but, as long as there are no kids to poke their lil fingers in the open holes, you'll be able to plug your charger into this no problem 'cos the usual safety shutter doesn't exist on them and the charger only uses the two pins you've got left.

The top pin is the earth one, isn't it? Kinda handy to have, I'd have thought. Anyway, my TA: our 27 y.o. boiler is on the blink again. I hope it's not the pump, 'cause if it is it's over €200 just for the part and we may have to look at getting a new boiler instead. Ouch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,219 ✭✭✭oneweb

Yep, it's earth which grounds any current but usually plastic on chargers as they're (meant to be) double-insulated, the plastic casing shouldn't carry any electrical current.

    It is what it's.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,219 ✭✭✭oneweb

TBH I reckon it's served its time 😊 You'll save on fuel with a brand new, more efficient boiler (you're essentially burning money now, particularly with how things are going).

This advice brought to you courtesy of Home Under the Hammer on BBC One 😂

Quoro is turning into wikihow. years ago wikihow was genuinely useful. I posted an article on wikihow years ago. It is maintained by 'docents' mostly, who are first year US college students.

I have one of those "Alex" chest of drawers for Lego.

I think in my "ah just get in" I may have overfilled a drawer....now the bottom drawer won't close so I think something has gone down the back.

Tried to take the drawer out doing the usual 45 degree lift jiggle but no joy ...googled instructions and drawers are screwed in.

Ffs this is not how I planned on spending my afternoon
