My personal take on all of this is there is a large steaming mound of high quality bullshíte on all sides, and yes that includes Ukraine and especially the US, and I stand by that 100%. For a start and as an example Western media, especially the hunting for the boogyman of the Far Right media got a remarkable case of amnesia over said Far Right in Ukraine, one that they were crowing about on the regular since Maidan caught their attention and long before this invasion. The UK Guardian and the BBC very good examples of this. Ditto for the reporting on Ukrianian corruption. All seemingly washed away for the war effort.
Now what makes it worse for me is the same media were egging on the Far Right stuff which was a minority element in Ukraine and one that had clearly decreased over the last decade because that suited their boogyman narrative. Shít, look at how our own media of late have been painting everyone asking genuine and realistic questions about our currrent immigration policies, or lack thereof, as "Far Right". Until enough talking heads in government and the EU change their minds. And thats happening as we speak. Too many agenda driven attention whores in the "journalism" biz these days and by god this hideous war is attracting them like flies to poo.
Now all that aside, the plain undeniable facts remain and no matter who started it in the geopolitical schoolyard of you smell, no you do; millions have been displaced, tens of thousands are dead, tens of thousands more crippled and homeless, lives and families destroyed for at least a generation, Ukrainians and Russians. It was continuously part of Ukraine from 1954 up until russia invaded in 2014 and will be Ukraine again when the Ukrainian armed forces encourage the russian invaders to leave.
