Yes, you are correct - numbers are not announced/released. Never were AFAIK. Since 2020, there has been a frenzy for MVR. In 2020, release date was changed from October to March. It also appears that volume was significantly lower than previous. It sold out in jigtime. Previous to then , it took 12 months to sell out.
In 2021, the frenzy continued. This year , ther have been two releases Spring and Autumn. It appears that, in spite of many new collectors, it is easier to get than last year....(higher price helping).
What happens next?
The local service station in Abbeyknockmoy, Co. Galway has a few bottles retailing at €250. This is your standard spar off licence petrol station. Can’t imagine many scarce or rare bottles would be going on sale here!
Got 2 bottles in Dunnes in BlackRock earlier, they had a good few on the shelf
Price?
Friend of mine got the last one in Ardkeen stores in Waterford on Saturday; €228.
This might be the year that Midleton jumped the shark I fear.
Just lashing more of it out, but delivering bottles randomly to various places, like a treasure hunt. 😂
they have some in stock, never used them before but seem to be linked to Celtic whiskey shop.
SuperValu have it advertised on their website at €210.

Anyone in the Waterford area still looking for an MVR 2022, "Number 21" off licence in lisduggan has a couple of bottles. Spotted them there earlier today.
Cork duty free, had some during the week, not sure how many, got a call from a friend who was paying thru the airport and asked if I needed any.
Shannon airport probably have them as well.
Basically.. airports.
They changed the release date to earlier in the year, so that they would be selling that years batch.
Up until then, you were always buying a bottle with the previous year on it.
As a result, the 2020 release was a lot smaller, so they could push out the 2021.
MVR is a big seller around Christmas time in corporate circles, and in 2020 Midleton was inundated with queries for bottles didn't exist.
So they split the sales, a March release, so they get this year's bottle out for the year we're in, and a later release to somewhat satisfy the Christmas/corporate market.
... That's a very simplified version of what I was told by an employee Midleton, there were a few other factors as well.
Thank you - received mine, top notch service from Celtic Whiskey Shop (IrishDrinkShop)
I think this one will actually be popped open maybe at Christmas.
Supervalu deansgrange have some. 210euro. Just got one
Tesco in Tralee have some too for €210
Very rare! Are the numbers produced each year available? Seems to be a lot around this year
One left in Tesco airside, swords. You need to ask security to go in the back to get the bottle and outer box.
Tesco Maynooth has it, 210. Don’t know how many bottles they have.
Still sitting on the shelf
Happy New year ?
Any Idea when the 2023 Release will hit the shelves ?
Are they still trying to shift the 2022 batch? That stuff will be selling for €50 a bottle in a couple of years, seems to have been loads of it about. Might need to reduce the supply for 2023.
I think the buyer type has shifted a lot. Checking online and it’s sold out at most locations, even when it has a significant markup. Supervalu seems to be one of the exceptions.
My local off license still has a few bottles on the shelf and they don’t have a website so could see it being there for a while.
A bottle went for €340 in this week's auction. The lowest was €232.
It's never been freely available. All allocations sold out quite quickly.
Saw it in SuperValu Ashbourne over Christmas at €300 , same price as the Barry Crockett beside it
I’ve got a 2002 bottle of MVR in my collection along with 2008-2022.
thinking of selling the 2002. Struggling to find any recent hammer prices for it though.
What do you consider a decent price?
Auction prices are hit and miss.
If it's money you want to make, put your 2009 up for auction, they are making stupidly big prices.
Or you wouldn't go the other way? Try to slowly chip away at the gap and pick up 2003-2007 in the odd auction here and there?
Hi
I want to purchase a mint box/bottle of very rare 2015 and 2017 - what is the best way of going about that, irish auction i assume?
Any suggestions? what are best sites to use?
Not used the auction sites myself but there's also an Irish Whiskey group on Facebook that I've seen people buying and selling on. Could be worth posting there.
A quick question for you all...
The 2017 release (new style bottling) had a black outer box for the North American (750ml) market.
Did the domestic and UK release (700ml) also come in a black outer box? Or was it the white version?
