Look at the bright side of things Vinnie. Only Kerry Dublin and Galway have won more all Irelands than us in football!
well to be fair where cork were 5 or 6 years ago it is a huge improvement , you cant just click your fingers and win an all ireland , good under age team coming through form the last few years , really good induvidual players in matty taylor , poweter , sherlock , foreign minister in goals ian mcguire and brian hurley , . give it time
It's worrying all the same, and we probably have appointed John Cleary about ten years too late imo. Oh well hopefully this might be as bad as it gets for us this year! The league is so important this year, and we produce that rubbish in our first game. I just hope we up it from here onwards!
Oh this team will need five to six years worth of division one football, before we can even think about an all Ireland imo.
everything is aimed towards a munster championship final in my opinion that would be a fairly good starting point
totally agree give it time
I was reading a few previews of the football league divisions and a good few of them predicted Cork would be in the promotion shake-up.
That seems laughable based on today's performance. They are more likely to be relegated.
Don't know would it have made a difference, but that last goal for Meath he travelled a good distance without playing the ball.
Think someone on Twitter counted 10-12 steps
The ref seemed happy to let them foul on a consistent basis, stopping us going forward at any kind of pace, so I'm not surprised at that.
Around the 60th minute mark, I remember a Cork player being fouled on the far side, not once, but twice - no free, lost possession and they scored.
The ref wasn't the reason Cork lost but he was especially poor I thought.
what was poor was that we aren't cute enough to play the ref. we prefer to let teams run right through us without laying a hand on them, same in the hurling
Patrick Horgan: I felt I was treated unfairly last year
https://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/arid-41060279.html
Silly interview from Horgan. Just let last year off. Plus he was actually playing poor time he was dropped, management were probably correct to let him off
He might get a clip of the blade from Shane in training.
Strange time to be saying stuff like that.
Is it mind games against his direct opponent for the frees and the title of main man for the forwards?
Strange one alright. I'd say his main rival for frees could actually be Dalton if he starts, he's a great free taker
Will be interesting to see if Horgan starts Saturday, I'd say pat Ryan is a strong character and would have no problem letting him off if he doesn't feel he has something to contribute
We would have beaten Galway last year if he was played from the start imo.
Possibly he might have scored some of the missed frees in first half but before the game I thought it was the correct decision to leave him off
The Galway game still rankles a bit to be fair as Hoggie would more than likely made the difference between winning and losing that game. I can still imagine him standing over those frees and slotting them over. They were like nails in the coffin when they were missed. No guarantee Hoggie would have scored them, but still.
Lads let's be honest, it was a good thing Galway beat us that day. It spared us another beating from Limerick. And don't say "You know I think we could have taken them".
You know well we wouldn't have.
But the point is Hoggie starting that game would probably have given us a better chance of winning.
Sure if we thought we might have to play Limerick at some stage this year, we might as well just pack it now and save us a beating.....
Another beating from Limerick in the championship would have done us no favours. We are better off not playing them until after some other team has beaten them (if that ever happens).
In 2021 Clare should have beaten us in Limerick and it was a pity they didn't.
The humiliation we got in the final would then have been avoided.
Cork U20s will face Kilkenny in a challenge at 5:30 before the game on Saturday.

You seem to be a person with a very uncork like inferiority complex! It's a recurring theme across all your posts here! Limerick are a great team for sure, but i would never ever go into a match thinking that Cork aren't going to win.
Nah i'm still happy we got to that final, and besides that semi final win against Kilkenny was a great day out. It's a pity Clare didn't beat us. What the eff! Are you even from Cork?
20 gone, we've had a few bad wides, down 5 v 9 Limerick look far slicker.
ht Cork 0-08 v 0-16
Making a bit of a game of it for most of the half but have had 9 wides, still sloppy in parts, particularly Lehane who has been brutal, given the ball away a couple of times, dropped one or two short and had 2 wides. 5 points in a row just before ht have Limerick well in control.
Cork supporters wanted us to play more direct and cut out the "tippy-tappy" hurling.
We are doing that in this game and seeing the results.
Nice ball in and a Cork goal.....
Hoggie benefited from a fast ball in previously when he was fouled.
Cork getting some nice ball into the forwards now and it's down to 3 points.
Another Cork goal......Get in !!
