Clerical Officer in the Civil Service 2022 | Civil Service - publicjobs.ie
You will only get the contract the week before your start date. I started on a Monday and only got my contract sent to me on the Thursday evening before the Monday. Signing the contract is near enough one of the last steps before starting.
I am starting in Justice March 6th and still have no idea where or what Division. Funny to think they gave me a start date but told me I don’t actually have a location yet 😂
great, thanks! Dying to know lol. How long int you start ?
I got my starting date after 6 days from assignment
Do you mean I’ll find my start date out in four weeks time or my start date will be around 4 weeks from now ? Thanks
Hi!
just wondering in terms of signing contracts how far in advance before starting? I would just rather have them signed before giving in notice to my current job
Around 4 weeks. That’s what it took for me from the time the message was on my public jobs message board saying Revenue was my department . You probably won’t find out what division or location for another 2 weeks or more. It’s a very slow process with in terms of communication with Revenue recruitment and HR haha 😂
I am Dublin based, I wonder why such a long wait for Dublin haha! Also how come everyone in revenue seems to work from home? I’m up for WFH but maybe a better balance than 4 days a week ! I wouldn’t have an interest in sitting in an empty office either tbf
With Revenue it happens very quickly from here on in , but depends on what location you chose! There are 15 starting in Kilkenny this week but I heard a start date of middle of March for Dublin . WFH is 4 days a week after training.
Same!
does anyone know how long before you get told your start date roughly? Got assigned to revenue yesterday!
Yeah the HEOs and APs on my team and other teams only do 1-2 days a week in the office max and the rest is from home. My teams PO seems to always be in the office or at meetings tho so I’d say it’s different for a PO . Revenue is very for WFH and blended working. If you can work from home they will make you . If you say you cannot WFH for some reason you’ll be sat alone in an office most days.
That’s great thank you !
Majority of departments are the 35 hours per week Monday- Friday, 7 hours per day. Core hours you have to attend are 10-12.30 and 2.30-4pm. You can do 9 to 4.30 and take half and hour lunch and work your 35 hours a week. Or start at 8.30am and finish at 4. You may be on a rota for phones which start at 9.30am - so that could be the latest you may be able to start. The above may vary also but a rough guide.
Flexitime is available but may vary from department to departure also.
I'd associate shift work with Customs department.
@Daisyflower123
No employee is expected to work ,shift work in Revenue unless you apply for a role that requires this. Flexitime applies through out the department.
@bichonfrise7
Revenue has flexitime, it's not all 9-5. And yes shift work is applicable to certain roles that you must apply for through internal competitions. It's not just expected of you to do.
You can work 5 days a week in an office if you wish.
I think 90% of Revenue phone lines close at 1.30pm daily. So chance of a whole day on it are slim.
What OOM have they reached in Dublin?
hey,
do you know if revenue is all 9-5 or is there any shift work? Also is there flexitime ? Thanks
Thank you for the info, I just looked at the booklet attached to my interview arrangement and noticed that working hours in HSE could be 8am-8pm over 7 days. This is not suitable for me, and I hope I will get normal office hours and weekdays in Revenue. I really hope that revenue doesn’t have any shift work 🥴
Cheers fritzelly
Just click the URL and it will take you straight in to the meeting
Thank you.
Do I need to use the Meeting ID & password in that case, if I click on the Meeting url provided?
My hubby works in Revenue. They are a great department to work for. Plenty of opportunities to progress and move around.
Another family member works for HSE and hates it. Looking forward to getting out. Also friends have worked for HSE and would not recommend it
Personally I think you should stick with Revenue, apply for mobility for other departments as soon as you start and in 2 years time you will give yourself the opportunity to move if you wish. The perks are better in Revenue especially for WFH.
Best of luck with whatever you decide
@L390
Revenue is a great Department to get. Plenty of opportunities to progress and move around. They have plenty of promotion opportunities when you will be eligible.
Also apply for mobility as soon as you start, mad I know but in 2 years time when eligible to move, you will be at the top of the list.
Best of luck
Just click the link and it will open the app to the meeting (might ask do you want to open it) - get in 10 mins early and make sure sound and voice are enabled and get yourself positioned in the camera and a large glass of water in arms reach
Hi.
I have the Zoom application on my laptop.
Do I click on the URL link I was provided for the meeting first?
Im a bit confused.
Hi, you'd find it easier if you're using a PC and install the Zoom application.
If you do that you'll enter the meeting id into zoom and it'll ask for a password, following which you'll be added to the call. You'll be waiting a bit there before the interviewer joins and then it's just a normal video chat.
Im new to using Zoom.
I was provided with a URL interview link , Meeting ID & password for the interview.
Question - Do I need all three of the above to get into the interview?
How does it work?
Is that for all grades ...I'd hate to be working from home
