I think it is factory only installation on the Model 3. Model Y can be installed later afaik.
It can definitely be done, but seems not by many.
It's not bolt on like most cars over the years were. As you said it can be done but it would be a custom job rather than a factory selling an aftermarket one specifically for a Tesla.
If you do this you risk Tesla banning the car from their service centre and voiding the warranty, they can be quite belligerent on stuff like this as a certain Irish YTuber found out a few years back...

Really? Was that the guy who had the Model 3 Performance, that was crashed? I knew he'd added power trunk & frunk, and probably a few other bits... but did Tesla blacklist the car from the SC? What else did he do to upset Tesla?
I can't say on Boards, if you know you know, you seem to have reached the right conclusion though
Planning to buy an M3 in the next few days. Do Tesla still do trade-ins? I seem to remember it used to be on the finance page, but now I can't see it anywhere. Is it an option once you click order?
Also, has anyone ordered one from Galway and did you have to pick up in Dublin, or do they deliver?
Well you buy a m3 on there site they will ask have you got a trade in they will give you a offer but they tend to be bad.I would try autotrade or zucars they give you a better price or sell privately on donedeal.
Thanks!
Yeah, my car is 15 years old. I'm not expecting a lot of money from anywhere ;) My thought was if I have to collect it myself in Dublin it would be a lot easier to drive there and leave my car behind, than spend 4 hours on public transport.
But thanks for the tips. I'll see how much the price difference is on those sites.
They do still do trade in's, though their process is to simply fish out the details of the car you entered to the trade, and get a few quotes back and offer you the highest quote they receive back....
Expect a very low ball offer (and don't be offended by it), as whatever they do offer, is simply an offer they'll pass onto you from a trade buyer, who's looking to buy the car cheap and flog it themselves.....
Now if you've got a €30k car, they might offer you €24k.... which would be an insult to most, but if you've got a €2k car and they offer you €1k for it... then you could be a lot more inclined to take their offer as it's easier/cleaner in the long run... So if you still have decent value in your car, it's better to sell elsewhere or sell privately than to trade it into Tesla.
Yea Dublin probably be easier they do a delivery enter in your eircode see if they deliver it to you.
MERT
Crashed.
Repaired badly.
Then tried to get the SC to fix the problems.
or so I heard.
His car was for sale in a dealers in Kildare last year. KY Reg.
my car is 15 years old.
In that case then the difference between what Tesla offer and what you could get privately might only be a few hundred euro... so not worth the hassle... drive the car up to Dublin, give them the keys and logbook, drive away in your Tesla..
Now if the car you were trading in was 2-3 years old and worth a lot more, then that'd be a completely different story!
Mine is 14 years old. Got a quote of €1. Sell privately. You’ll get more whatever it is, train and taxi to collection.
Train and Luas and a small bit of a walk.
Daaaaaaaaamn! That is ridiculous!
In fairness, it needs lots of work.
How dare you sir! 🤣
btw its passed its nct now. The only 2 things with it is a dented rear right wing and a fuel gauge that works like elon musk thinks. Otherwise its perrrfect
That’s brilliant. Be worth more now.
I thought you posted it needed a couple of K put into it?
I see it was brought up earlier but I’m thinking of dropping premium connectivity. The Spotify app is crap and I am mainly using YouTube music through Bluetooth. I don’t really care about Netflix etc on there as im rarely in a position to use them and if I do there’d be no problem using hotspot. I would miss the satellite view for the map but I think that’s the only thing I’d be missing.
For my case it’s just not really worth the 10er. I thought it would be but with active cruise you can take your eyes off the road for a few seconds to use a phone. Might get hammered for that but I really don’t care.
Thanks, no it could sell for 2k with no nct, so now its worth more id say. Put in 500 worth of repairs.
at the start tesla were offering me 1700 for it 2 months ago, but this time valuation =€1.
I got an email yesterday to complete the SEAI grant form and ask how I was paying for the car so there is some movement, EDD is still from 24 Feb to 12 Mar and No VIN yet.
Forgot to update, got the same last week! Presented it on Thursday and still no news, but seems are getting A CAR very soon. Excited.
Yeah, this must mean cars are not too far off hopefully. Is your EDD still from 24 Feb to 12 Mar?
Same dates but no form yet. when did you order @jmpie ?
Tesla Model 3 & Y delivery waiting room where it might be better to discuss all this sort of stuff...
I ordered on 14th Jan
It is indeed. Let's move to the other waiting room thread as suggested by AndyBoBandy.
Quick update on the 2nd hand market - you may remember we spoke before the price drop on the 13th that there were 47 M3’s on carzone and the cheapest was €42.9k
this morning there’s 67 listings and 16 of them are below that €42.9k, most are €39.9k and the cheapest is a private seller of a white 201 SR+ for €37k with 110k kms.
cheapest LR is a low mileage 202 MIC for €44k
That said, almost all my old saved ads are still unchanged, and unsold.
As folks get vins for new orders you’d imagine used prices will drop?
