I wonder how this will work out for him

I think you lose 9 weeks dole or thereabouts if you get sacked. I quit a job years ago and my dole was stopped for a good number of weeks.
I know , that's why I said "if"
His legal costs won't be huge if he is represented by himself and his sister.
What will screw him is if he gets caught for the School's legal costs. Although if he has no money, sure what can they do to him. Jail him in lieu of a fine in which case he won't pay it and on and on that circle will go.
Not possible I would think, but i bet there are less photographers there today than last week. In other words interest will drain away and he'll slowly move off the front page of every paper (all while racking up a huge tab).
I think the only times there are media blackouts is when someone's safety/life is in danger or when armed gardai are deployed to an incident.
there was no legal process before he was suspended. the legal stuff all came after that.
It must be fcuking cold standing outside the school gate like a gobshyte for hours on end. And a four hour drive for the privilege.
@Ten of Swords
Didn't the fines only start kicking in at 2pm on Friday?
So Friday / Saturday / Sunday / Monday = €2800
The devil doesn't need any advocates.
As to his rights, he does indeed have a right to a fair procedure. And if he doesn't think that the disciplinary process was carried out fairly there is a proper procedure to follow for that. Refusing to acknowledge that you've been fired and showing up to your former workplace in violation of a court order are not part of that procedure.
The school and the students also have a right to not be harassed by a former teacher.
I think it's only the indo who are reporting it at this stage, but I'd imagine they'll get bored in a week or so unless theres a development.
Yep, that's what I meant. What I meant was he didn't ignore it because it wasn't there. I could have phrased it better.

Quite right, getting ahead of myself 🤑🤑🤑

Just being Devil's Advocate here but Burke didn't ignore the legal process until he was suspended.
Well - He sort of did.
If a Teacher or indeed any employee, has a problem in their employment there is a documented complaints/appeals process that they must follow.
Enoch did not follow that process , he went straight to hounding the Principal repeatedly culminating in the incident at the public School event which was what got him suspended.
So , he began by ignoring the school and Department of Education complaints & disciplinary processes which then led to the injunction which is where he started to ignore the legal/judicial process as well.
At no point in this entire charade has Enoch meaningfully engaged with any of the procedures & processes available to him.
And that is the absolute core of all this.
If Enoch needs to raise funds to cover the fines and mega legal costs he's facing maybe he should consider installing cameras etc in the Burke house and beam out a kind of Kardashian type reality show!
Well a judge can rule that all media must keep a certain distance but it’s not likely to happen since in fairness they are staying at the gates and not posting anything “private” that might get the schools back up.
But as you rightly point out it will just fizzle out on its own fairly shortly the media will always find the next thing to follow around and public interest will by and large fall to one side regarding the carry on what most people would be interested in by now (I imagine) is the bullet points of what’s happening as time passes.
if he appeals, what happens, what happens in Feb etc, your average person I reckon is getting to the point if not t there of not really caring whether he turns up to school or not (because at this stage it’s effectively a given) and more on the key points in the saga.
I'm not arguing against anything you are saying there.
He ignored the suspension as well. He has done nothing but ignore process from the start.
Unless anything changes, this is a news story that has gone stale. The publicity is an added bonus for the Burkes and their causes but it's not the be all and end all. Back in 2010 they were making regular long journeys from Castlebar to Dublin to protest outside the Dail. Was anyone paying much attention to them then? They're ideologically driven but unfortunately for them, their values and ways of interacting with others isn't compatible with everyday life.
I’m far from a member of the woke brigade and probably don’t even support all aspects of transgenderism (especially when it comes to children) but this guys ‘crusade’ is just downright weird. It’s a strange hill to die on, why didn’t he just resign his position or come to some sensible arrangement with the management of the school whereby he wouldn’t have to teach or have minimal contact with the student in question because of his deeply held religious beliefs? I’m sure I’f he had gone about it sensibly some sort of arrangement could have been made rather than chastising a child and harassing another member of staff.
At this point I’d say he’s just doing it to be in the media spotlight and nothing more.
And can he even appeal beyond that point if the same thing happened again?
It wasn't that Ammi lost her case, the judge just said that he wasn't able to proceed because of the interruptions right? So there's no point of law to appeal it on. The case just never finished.
That's the crazy thing. There are processes he could have followed. The case would have still been newsworthy. Their tactic doesn't make any rational sense.
He doesn't like cars as he believes they are fitted with Catholic Convertors.
We already know the student involved was not his student and he had no reason to have any contact with them.
He literally could have formally "filed his objection" to the direction from the Principal, left it on record, and moved on. Nothing would have happened.
Instead he chose to go nuclear, jump in with both feet and start demanding that NO ONE in the school should follow the Principal's direction.
I assume structured payments
Could be like 20 euro a week if he has no income or assets
Here's one along now 🤣
Nothing if not predictable. If only you said.... Oh wait
Common sense will have to break out at some point.
The only thing I can think of that will keep this in the news is if Hammi turns up at the school gate and gets her kit off !
Anyone who thinks that referring to someone else by their preferred pronoun is some kind of hardship, or infringement of their rights needs to get the fcuk over themselves.
It's not about you.
Toss him back in jail. It’ll just take another big media event to extinguish the lime light. If memory serves, the queen died shortly after his previous stint started and totally took the wind out of his media circus’ sails. Truth be told I’d forgotten the gowl was still in there, and was surprised to hear he served as long as he did
If the capacity to think and reason is unavailable to oneself then maybe the disapproval of others ability is malicious?
