Of course you can. I don't think like this, I'm only using it as an example but what if I told my boss that I wouldn't call a boy a girl no matter what the law said, I'd be a bigot right? But how have I bullied anyone?

Before this whole episode started, did Enoch still live in Castlebar and commute to the school for work ?

If you made sure that everyone heard you say that and that everyone knew how you felt , then yes you absolutely have bullied the person involved.
You have made sure that they know that you do not respect them and you do not want them around - That is the very definition of bullying.
You don't have to speak/act directly to the person for it to be bullying , you can create a toxic environment where they feel unwanted and disrespected.

I just wonder how long Burke is going to keep up his appearance routine? Could they get him to paint a few walls and fences?
Maybe the main gate could do with a coat of paint? It is a bit of a shame leaving the fella there at loose end.
So how does he get time to go on his knees and pray, not to mention flagellating himself with a whip!
If he were to say to the student what he refuses to accept who they really are it'd be bullying - in the same way if he'd said it to a student who was black, a traveller, gay, from a different country....
Sure that Enoch fella could use the very same argument ‘a toxic’ working atmosphere etc.
Bullied into using pronouns instead of him/her. Lack of respect for his religious beliefs etc etc. It works both ways depending on the viewpoint.
Normally I don’t use toxic in that context by the way- it is an Americanism as I am concerned.

That is good now in fairness. I honestly don’t think he is going to give up.
Maybe if some religious representatives talk to Burke it might get him to ‘stand down’ or at least find some form of compromise from a theological standpoint?
Next major date is the 10th of February - Certainly from a judicial point of view.
The Judge has set that date to review the €700/day fine and has said that if it wasn't working he would adjust it to find an amount that would change Enochs behaviour.
He is also due to rule on who will have to cover the costs of all the legal actions to date - I think it's fairly certain that he'll rule that Enoch is on the hook for those costs as well.
By the 10th , Enoch will have 14 days of non compliance meaning he'll owe €9800 by then and he'll probably get hit with several multiples of that for the costs accrued to date for all the court appearances etc.
Not unrealistic to say that by end of day on February 10th , Enoch could easily be looking at a bill approaching €50k.
Having said all that , if he doesn't have the money and he doesn't have any assets to speak of I'm not sure what happens then.
I suspect that the file sent to the DPP last week for his first foray into the school (where he actually entered the building) will become central to the solution as that shifts all this from the slightly woolly Civil law/Injunction world into the much more clear cut world of Criminal law.
Yeah it's funny. The family have no strategy. Won't put him in prison and I assume standing outside all day won't bother anybody in the school after a while.
So he is publicly humiliating himself indefinitely.
This guy and those with similar beliefs believe that the world is 6000 years old, 6025 to be precise. So how could anyone possibly understand what's going on in their heads.

Sure all Burke will do then is say he can’t pay. Then faces jail then he is back to ‘martyrdom in jail etc. Where he would be in his element. This could run and run for years.

He never actually gave anyone the chance to "disrespect his religious beliefs" .
He never allowed it to get that far.
He jumped off the deep-end at the very first mention of this and demanded that not only would he not accept it but that no one in the school accept it.
Burke's the only one that did any bullying, no matter how much you want to blame everyone else. He had the opportunity to object to being asked to refer to a student by their new name and pronouns. Instead of doing that he decided to try and get his way by bullying the principal. It got him suspended, and then fired. Like a lot of bullies he doesn't want to have to pay the consequences of his actions.
He has the look of a mammys boy alright. 38 years old ,a very good job ( at least he had) and living at home.
Highlighting what happens if someone tries to bully their boss and then pretend like they haven't been fired over it.
That's why I think that the file sent to the DPP becomes very important.
Instead of him being "indefinitely detained" for lack of compliance with the various injunctions/fines , he will simply be jailed for 3 months (or whatever) for the Criminal offence related to him going into the School building last week - It was mentioned he'd been charged under the Public Order Act.
If he then comes back to the school , now with a criminal conviction I suspect that it becomes much easier to have him arrested again the next time he turns up.
His continued actions of essentially pretending that the law doesn't exist does present an interesting challenge to the legal system. I mean even the Irish Council for Civil Liberties are saying that this case shows the need for reform around the penalties for breaches of civil law.
Interestingly , they also don't think that this case has anything to do with "Enochs Rights"
The Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL) has said that the dispute should not be framed as a “conflict of rights”, despite Burke’s best efforts to do so.
Burke has repeatedly claimed in his submissions to court that his constitutional rights, primarily the right to freedom of religion, were ignored by the school throughout the process that led to his suspension.
“The difficulty here is that he is defying the legal process. I don’t think the situation we are in at the moment and the legal proceedings are really about a conflict of rights at all. They are about the authority and integrity of legal proceedings and the court defending the authority of the courts and the court orders. That’s a distinct question,” Liam Herrick, the ICCL’s executive director, said.
When even the ICCL don't think your rights are being infringed , you are on to a loser...
Burke back at the school. Who cares.
Really just making a pure thick of himself at this stage.
I agree, I made the suggestion last week that we should make donations to fund bouncers at the gate for the school.
