Yes, he has complained about why he refuses to use the student's new name and pronouns. However that has nothing to do with why he was suspended and then fired. That happened because he decided to try and bully his boss.
But if strict following of religious doctrine is all about telling students they are wrong, certain ideas are wrong then that is not in congruence with the expressed ethos.

But thats not in line with school ethos of treating children with dignity and respect and would almost certainly be against the schools anti bullying policy too. Plus Burke wanted the entire school to follow his beliefs so he still wouldnt have accepted a position where most of the school referred to them as they requested.
The essential truth behind this saga is that Burke is a bully who thought he could get his way by publicly verbally abusing and attempting to physically intimidate his boss. And who is desperately trying to ignore the inevitable consequences of his own actions. He is doing everything he can to try and pretend like it is really about religious freedom. But it isn't.

Calling anyone by their surname only is extremely rude, in any circumstance. Treating students and indeed colleagues with basic human respect is an essential part of teaching. Burke and any teacher doesn’t get to impose their personal beliefs on their students. If the student changes name, all staff need to use that name, whatever the reason for the name change.
Burke could have compromised by using the student’s new name at all times instead of any pronoun. Why do you think he didn’t find that compromise himself?

Hey, we've had either FF or FG in charge for over 100 years. Irish people are slow to turn.
And there was no need for the Ukrainians to put nice Mr Putin into a corner of this nature. All could have coexisted ( under Russian rule in the territories they annexed). Often diplomacy means finding acceptable ways for people of different views to live together. The Ukraine misjudged this and delivered a cause celebre when there was no need to.

An interesting observation is the Irish State recognizes only two genders. There are moves a foot have more recognized, but how long will that take. For those that don't believe me, have a look at the form for applying for a Gender Recognition Certificate.

Just out of curiosity. Where do they get their money from? I mean I'm assuming they won't pay the fines for breaching court orders but none of them are hireable. Who in their right mind would hire them? Even if they agreed with their religious opinions, they are so prone to suing their employers that who would take the risk? There are about 7 or 8 more of them. But again, who would hire THEM?
