So, Ms De Brun is a secondary school teacher. She is informed that they'll be six refugees enrolling in the school in February. Ms De Brun believes Ireland/the school is full and we should look after our own first.
There's a school retirement function and she loudly confronts the principal in front of parents/staff/pupils/etc.
She's then suspended with pay and continues to turn up for school.
I take it all the above is okay because she's standing firm to her beliefs.

Not saying the judge won't oblige at some point, but I'm guessing the courts will start speeding up the process of seizing his assets first to try get him to comply.
Failing that his existing contempt charge could be changed from coercive to punitive and he could just be handed down a set sentence.
No doubt he'd be back in front of the school once he served his time, but failing further developments it'd fall out of the news fairly quickly and deny him the publicity he so desires.

This is the article, written in July 2010. Since March of that year, the Burkes had been travelling to Dublin 2-3 times a week to protest outside the Dáil. The car journey took them 3-4 hours and they would then stand there for up to 9 hours a day. They claimed the Bible was sustaining them on these long days. In light of that, standing outside a school in January isn't that strange in their world.
He didn't bully any children. Try stick to the facts. He tried to bully the Principal.
Costs money to keep him in prison.

Burke never said a word to the child. He didn't even teach the child. Burke cracked the sh1ts with the Principal, not the child.
I'm not sticking up for Burke by the way. Burke wasn't disciplined for anything whatsoever to do with the child. It was for his behaviour towards the Principal.

There are much more child friendly ways to stand up for your personal views - standing outside a school with the media circus beside you is a constant reminder to the child who is being ridiculed by this idiot and his family controversy to the detriment of that child and the other children who attend the school. Enoch Burke has zero interest in protecting the innocents whom he taught, its his way or the highway and feck everyone else who doesn't do it his way.
Yes but I assume at this point the child is aware of and possibly suffering as a result of Burke's actions.
It's also possible the child would have been scheduled to come under Burke's tuition in a future year and Burke had already down the seeds for that.
And all the other kids now dealing with the media intrusion every day as well.

The WHS student council wrote a letter to Burke - which the coward refused to accept - stating their concerns with his actions.
"The Council said that for many LGBTQI+ students, Mr Burke's presence in the school "is a daily reminder of the prejudices they feel".
He may not ever spoken to this trans student one on one, but his actions most certainly affected not only on them, but every LGBTQ student in the school.
The Dept of Education defines bullying as "unwanted negative behaviour, verbal, psychological or physical, conducted by an individual or group against another person (or persons) and which is repeated over time".
I think Burke's behaviour could be described as psychological bullying.
Intimidation is a form of bullying, it doesn't have to be verbal. It takes real courage for those children to pass that circus every day, under such scrutiny and try and study for junior and leaving cert classes - bearing in mind, some of those children may no longer have a german teacher - what is that doing to their learning?
Enuch and the media should be kept 500 mts from the school so that the children can be dropped and picked up in peace. His freedoms shouldn't top the freedom of children attending school in a calm and peaceful environment. Children SHOULD ALWAYS come first, always, no ifs and buts
And again, for the third time, I'm not denying that Burke's behaviour is not having a negative effect on the kids. I'm agreeing that it is having a negative effect on the kids.
What I'm saying is that his row with the Principal and his protest outside of the school, while being a dick move, isn't bullying. If he bullied the children, you can be sure that would have been included in his disciplinary process.
Edit. His row with the Principal was possibly bullying, but the rest of it isn't bullying.

I'll agree that some children more than likely feel intimidated. No problem agreeing with that. They don't want Burke anywhere near the school. And fair enough, nothing wrong with them wanting that. The man is a d1ckhead.
But that doesn't necessarily mean that Burke is bullying them. Intimidation and bullying are often linked but they are not always the same thing. Burke has made no threats towards the children. Absolutely none. He hasn't verbally abused any of the children either so I can't see how he has bullied them.
So I'll answer your question with a 'not agreed'.
I'm not sure how it specifically works but there's 4 options open to the courts in relation to fines

Can the state/ judiciary gift the proceeds of the fines to pro transgender charities? That could force him to reconsider if he thought he was sponsoring a cause he despises.
If he has no intention of paying the fines, then I don't think it will matter.
I had a similar thought in relation to the community service order mentioned above. Give six months community work at some kind of LGBT support centre, sweeping the floors.
