Number of near misses with these idiots. Change direction to cross the road or something and you get slammed and they get thrown into traffic quite possibly.

Incredible there hasn't been a litany of serious injuries and deaths associated with things.

Yeh I had one where I was looking at a flower bed and moved back to the middle of the footpath and one skimmed me whilst flying it. He went on seemingly oblivious to what was millimeters away from a serious incident for both of us.

With seriously bad drivers on the roads who never seem to see any consequences from Gardai can't see them enforcing any laws stopping these numpties from dangerous behaviour.

Same just an hour ago. Going to cross and moved back to the inside of the path just as a hefty looking joker whizzed by. If I'd moved the other way we were both in A&E.

We've enough of them in our estate and they're not feral scum kids either, quite a few of them are adults. If they hit a mother with kids they'll get a slap. Get creamed by a bus/glider or a 40 foot lorry it's tough sht. You can't resuscitate a pancake.

I had to grab my six year old as he exited a shop out of the way of a grown man sized idiot on the path going full tilt on one of these scooters.

I think they are cool and as a last mile transport or urban solution I can see the sense but mixed with bikes not pedestrians.

The scooter man apologised but probably because angry daddy face rather than realising he could hurt someone

I'm a cyclist, motorist, pedestrian and regular joggist and have nothing against them. They're mostly harmless. Some people just love complaining about them on footpaths when you only ever see motorists killing and maiming people on footpaths in Ireland never mind parking and driving all over them, but no one seems to kick off threads about that all the time.

There's a lunatic on one of these in Dublin at the moment who travels at incredibly fast speeds on the Southside quays in the cycle lane AGAINST the flow of cyclists.

The cycle lanes that have a barrier between you and the car lane.

Weaving in and out between cyclists while coming at you head on. **** mental, I nearly had a head on collision with him a couple of weeks ago. Utter scumbag.

They are a great way to get around. I don't have one but have used them in pedestrianised zones in Vienna, Rotterdam, Singapore and I am confident that I skateboarded on pavements all over California.

I'd much rather folks use escooters than drive cars, but I'd also much rather people cycle than use escooters.

If it's ten minutes on a scooter it's ten minutes in a bicycle. Why not cycle as a matter of interest? Also have the added bonus of exercise and don't have to worry about charging a battery.

Safe roads and pathways is a culture thing… but cars kill more ? Sure, by the very nature of them being multiple times heavier, faster etc..

there should have been legislation that just bans scooters on footpaths, bicycles are banned on paths, unless there is a cycle lane…

Things have changed in Singapore now - you have to register your scooter and do an online theory test to be permitted to use it. Not allowed on footpaths anymore, only cycling paths, of which there is a fairly good network.

And because this is SG - if found not to have your digital certificate or on the path, fine up to $2k and/or 6 months jail time.
