Are there definitely boats on route?
I find it strange that the website is still saying Feb/March and lads in the shop saying September. If it does end up being September I wonder would there be a chance of getting the deposit back based on false advertising?
I think they'll give it back anyways. Heard of others ordering last year that got deposits back when they changed mind/plans etc. Just don't go attacking them on false advertising and you'll be grand. It's an estimate after all.
An estimate does have to have some element of accuracy. March vs September is a big jump. My order has remained as a 2 week block. I can't take anymore EV delays, been waiting since last Feb for one
You're entitled to get you deposit back courtesy of distance selling regulations. I would be very surprised if an October order wasn't fulfilled during the Q1 delivery. Unless you updated/modified the order in late December/January?
It's always possible that the batch doesn't contain enough cars to match up all the orders for every type, but back in October it was nearly all blue-black or white-white MY RWDs that were being ordered.
Yeah I did amend the order when the price dropped 😆 but perhaps Tesla need to look at their scheduling. Look at the amount of people who would snap a car up tomorrow if they got a call. The amount of sales they actually miss out on as a result of people waiting and waiting and then being told it’s another 6 month wait
It’s the resale factor, in 3 years time a 241 registered car will be worth more than a 232. The only example where it wouldnt matter is if you bought new and kept the car for 10years. At that stage a numberplate is less relevant.
I had the exact same dates as you, but changed to Feb - Mar earlier this week. There’s a few other people getting the same change now. Did you make a change to your order since Oct?
That's a reasonable expectation and I would hope that the Irish branch have some channel for communicating market information such as grant expiration dates etc, back to Shanghai. But we need to remember our place in the world. Last year Tesla sold 1,318 cars in Ireland. Shanghai Gigafactory produces c. 5,000 cars per day.
Missed this post, ignore my previous question. It seems to be mainly anyone who amended their order that’s getting pushed back to Feb - Mar from previous 2 week window. It’ll be annoying now if the change has resulted in a 6 month delay. In saying that I saw the one I’ve now ordered today, and it looked way better than my original choice.
What did you go for? I originally had RWD model y but swapped for LR MY. The price was basically the same following the price drop so I was happy to spend the original amount but with the LR AWD addition.
It’s still annoying that even if I buy a car today it says Feb/march but the truth is more likely September and Tesla know this from what I can gather. That’s poor showing on their behalf. It’s probably to make more sales. False advertising really. Estimate or not.
Do we just get 1 allocation in Jan/Feb and another aug/sept? That’s it?
That was the way it was in 2022 because in 2021 they had a Q2 shipment but had poor sales. No guarantees that 2023 will be the same as 2022.
I added induction wheels to my original order, I also ordered another RWD on Monday with the 19” wheels. That’s just saying Feb-Mar too. If I can get either of them I’ll go for it.
Reality is Tesla will sell all the cars that they get delivered ..no problems. At the moment post price reductions demand exceeds production capacity and what we are all expereincing is not unexpected. All of this is not unusual and EDD's with Tesla although a cause of frustration , are always just Estimates. Hang in there but its nonsense to give air time to false advertising.....etc
I amended my order twice. I still have the same window. No push back.
Newcomers, you need to get used to the dates shifting around. It’s random and automated with no clear reasoning behind it.

In previous years yes. All the time. On the same day too. You’ll get used to it 🤣🤣

What happens when you don't have a date just Feb-march time frame.when would likely to get vin like a week a or two before delivery.
It can be anything from 2 weeks before to 2 days before. You might fall in line with a cancellation and you’ll get the text to schedule collection.
From what I see the Irish site uses the same delivery dates as UK. But much better supply proportionally in UK.
Remember they sold 40000+ cars in the UK last year compared to 1300 in Ireland. No 1 selling car in UK barely hit the top 20 here.
There's a drop in demand in UK but not enough I would say to make massive numbers in Ireland.
I missed 2 delivery windows 2 years ago (sept. & Dec.) I ordered in August car would have finally arrived in March.
Tesla will never give you a concrete yes or no. I always got "we are confident you'll have a car in the next delivery".
I'll remain hopeful until I have reason not to be. The massive ramp up in supply will mean they need the associated full sales, and quick.

I know that but many here are newbies and excited so no harm.
Texts also being sent out to customers with orders to complete registration details but surely Tesla in Ireland aren’t going to register anything until a car is paid for in full or finance cleared. Wouldn’t see any urgency in completing such tasks at this stage. Maybe Tesla are fishing to see how many deposits placed are definitive sales as I’m sure some Jan 13th orders were impulse orders and obviously some are duplicate orders from before and after the price drop.
