That lack of a salary might be a key difference this time around for Enoch.
Previously he was happy to sit in Mountjoy getting his full salary while being provided with full and board.
He won't have that next time.
The Judge just has to find the right pressure point to apply to get him to comply with the injunction - For now he's trying financial pain.
But you have to remember Religious types like this live pretty frugally. I can imagine them all sitting at the dinner table eating cold tins of pilchards.
We call him an electrician. He would say he's a conduit for God's firewater.
The contempt is for continuing to attend school despite the court directing him to stay away.
The disciplinary hearing was totally separate and the court has no interest in it
The legal precedent has nothing to do with him showing up……it is for allowing someone out of prison without having to discharge the contempt that landed them in there, in the first place.
Re the fines……..waste of time and effort…….a man with no income paying 700 a day……send him to prison for contempt and then he won’t be showing up to the school. As I said at the start, letting him out was a mistake.
It doesn't , but his behaviour, his ongoing disruption of the school and all the associated media attention that has brought does absolutely nothing positive for anyone involved , especially the students and most specifically the child at the centre of it all.
Had Enoch objected through the normal official channels , almost no one would have heard about the issue , unless it made it's way out of the school complaints process and perhaps moved over to the courts or WRC , depending on the outcomes.
It's got nothing to do with LGBTQ, it's got to do with one person treating everyone else with utter disdain and disrespect and causing months of disruption to a school and its students.
How crappy do you think being a student or staff member in Wilsons is right now? -The constant media attention , the constant requests for comments or insights into the whole affair from everyone you've ever met and probably journalists too.
The daily disruption to the normal day - Not being able to use the outside spaces fully because some Gowl is wandering around the place etc.
The article is bang on - As a teacher , Enoch is supposed to put the Students before everything else , he has failed utterly in that and has decided that he is more important than any of them.
That there is a transgender student somewhere in all of this is almost entirely secondary to his abhorrent behaviour

"Hello? Ah..."
It's 'bad faith' calling, they say they know you.
Leave him in prison and he causes less problems ……..being in contempt either means something or it doesn’t
If Lugs branigan, god be with him,was around, old enocheen wouldn’t be left long standing at the gates. One good baton charge is all it would take. He wouldn’t be back again
He was sacked for his behaviour and he has reprehensible views on the LGBTQI+ community, he was not sacked for those reprehensible views.
It's paywalled the headline is enough to see what they are getting at. In a not so subtle way. We had pages of arguments saying this was not the case. I agree he was sacked due to behaviour.
'No martyrdom on my watch'
Not yet anyway.
This is correct.
To draw a parallel between Kilmacud Crokes' 16th man, its not about the man, its about the integrity of the rules.
Everything has changed. If they couldn't have the disciplinary hearing, they could have dismissed him. If they couldn't dismiss him, they couldn't bring matters to an end. This nonsense would have gone on for ever if they hadn't released him from prison so he could attend the disciplinary hearing.
I can't see that working He would eventually become a prisoner of conscience It's a tough one to deal with. I mean how long can you hold him until the punishment does not fit the crime and they got to the HRC in the EU.
Well, a human rights hearing could take, what, two or three years to get?
So, I'm gonna say hold him for two or three years.
Is this lad Burke rich? Can he afford to pay €700 a day?
Hey I'm just saying judging by what they are like. I cant see his faith going away. I would ignore He's no threat to anyone. I mean look he could not punch his way out of a paper bag. I think the oxygen is fuelling this. The longer they get attention the more their faith will be strengthened. Can't see the fines doing anything either.
Sensible lad, that judge.
Has he got a criminal conviction for contempt of court? If so, that surely puts the scuppers on any visa application whether under the ESTA, Green Card, or work visa.
His fundie mates will have to visit him in Ireland instead..
Takes years as it has to exhaust all courts in Ireland first, and no guarantee the case would be accepted for hearing by the European Court of Human Rights (presume that's what you mean - incidentally it's not an EU court, separate organisation) and no guarantee it would win as Irish legislation will have been framed to likely fit within the recommendations of the ECHR in the first place.
'Taking it all the way to Europe' really isn't the magic bullet that some people think it is.
I never suggested it was a magic bullet. I just cant see them going away while they get coverage. It's situations like these You just ignore.
Why is there no one supporting Enoch’s predicament?
Not a word from the usual suspects!
The main one was threadbanned..
I can't find one fundraiser for him online, Or any articles from the USA, Is he really getting the attention of the Americans who will throw money at him? Maybe the algorithms know too much.
Roger that, Jimmy.
Is there any rule against posting the text of paywalled articles? If so, someone let me know and I'll delete, or mods, please remove .
DELETED
If that's the article I can see why it was paywalled. And If it's real blows the argument out the water that it's Not an LGBT issue. Again if real.
The issue is Burkes behaviour. It is his behaviour that his led him to where he is today, not his beliefs. How many times does this need to be said to you? are going to continue to post in bad faith? Let me know so i can put you on ignore.
The start of the article says otherwise. Is it the correct article btw I have no idea.
It's an opinion piece not an article
