Totally with you in all that. Although I woud love a lighthouse.. I fancy Fastnet though ..
TV programmes?
That place has been on sale for a while, the indoor photos are form the summer when it was first up, as the sun is shining. I guess they have relisted it with photos from the recent snow to try and drive more interest.
If I was going to sell my property, I'd plan it better if I could. I'd get photos taken during the summer when the place looks well and not in the depths of winter when everything looks all dreary.
This was deffo mentioned not too long ago here. It's kinda OK but has a real holiday home vibe from it.
Reading it wrong.... I checked the ferry times! Watched so many programmes etc that at this distance in time I cannot quite mind if I ever actually went over or not. lol... I think I did!
Black plastic laid down to stop weeds growing through
Nah, not confused. The lighthouse is overpriced. By about €3 million in my book but maybe someone will pay it.
The garda station needs a good few bob spent on it and I do realise it's in a quiet area but any cars passing, while possibly rare, would be very close to the house as it's built pretty much right to the edge of the road.
I wouldn't fancy a house that close to the road, even if there is very little traffic on it.
That house wouldn't appeal to me at all. It still needs alot of money spent on it - I would rip the whole interior - its awful.
I also hate wood on the outside of houses - I cant see the appeal of it as it ages. Architects seem to love it though.
nice house this. Good BER. Grounds could do with a bit of a clearing but not too bad. Not ridiculously expensive.
Am I reading this wrong, or are you saying Tory Island isn't offshore?
Small house here and NO TV and before that, big house and NO TV....Happy ....
Never understood why a person could have such a huge house and a small TV :)
I agree.
Also, when I look at houses, mostly on here 😁, I usually try to look past the decor/ furnishings iykwim. I'm thinking how would that room look with/ without XYZ, or painted in a colour I like or whatever. I don't like that idea of putting stuff in by photoshopping.
That house looks neglected, in the very first photo, imo.
It reminds me iof the time i deciided on going offshore. I "trekked" online all along the West Coast and thought Tory Island was an option and OH LOOK! Houses to rent at the lighthouse... WOW. When I inquired I was firmly informed that they would NOT rent them out in winter as NOONE would deliver fuel. Not offshore so imagine the weather? Actually I would be fine as I am here....But other factors..
I wonder if it's crap enough looking that if they show it as is they won't get any interest in it. If you look carefully at the kitchen units, it looks like there may be some water damage to the bottoms of them.
This really would not want to become a 'thing'. I agree that the redecoration needed is not the furnishings, it is the painting etc, and I would pretty much dismiss it as a possibility to look at based on the fact that there are essentially no photos. It is a nonsense idea, it would make house-buying impossible if all the properties were photoshopped to a state where you have no idea what is actually there.
Actually just looking at it again on a bigger screen, you can see that the walls have been Photoshopped as well. If you look at the pics of the living room with the orange and blue walls around the chimney, you can see where they did it. I wonder if the place is full of mould/mildew because it was left vacant with the pool filled and no heating on.
True he owned it but he only ever spent one night there
Ah wonderful.. I nearly went to Inishturk to live when I was seeking offshore but there were no rentals and yes I looked at Inishturk Beg online. But no accommodation . Thank you. I iwll ask my neighbour the ferryman about it all as he was born here and at nearly 70 has never lived elsewhere.
I actually don’t mind this at all. The real (empty) photos are there and the mock ups aren’t ridiculous looking (ie it’s all very doable).
Presumably anybody interested would visit it in person anyway
Lest I be doubted
It's virtual staging - the furniture is CGI'd in to give an idea of how it would look with stuff in it. I think by decoration they probably mean addition of furniture and accessories.
I saw this on twitter but I can't find the tweet. The description says
***Please Note: Photos in this advertisement have been CGi'd to display how this property could look like once redecorated. Currently, this property is in need of decoration***
I find it very misleading that there are no photos showing the true state of the interior - makes me think it must be very bad indeed!
Edit - just noticed that since yesterday they added photos of what seems to be the actual interior, and it looks fine. Or are those not real either? The rooms don't look particularly in need of decoration.
Fascinating! Thank you
Completely off topic but John Lennon once owned an island in Clew Bay. He had a helicopter though (or at least had access to one).
He used to hop over to Mulranny for sessions in the hotel. He actually played a tape of the song Revolution from the album the Beatles were working on at the time.
Nevermind the stairs, the most offensive thing about that house is the TV placement!
If your TV is closer to the ceiling than the floor you're doing something wrong.
I'm disappointed there's no cells :)
It's not really a castle though, it's a castellated house.
Tacky as fook IMO too.
