Jaysis, have people here not got eyes thinking the man doesn't look overweight - he looks well overweight and he's 14 stone 9lb at 1.67m....his BMI is 33 so he's not just overweight but obese - he needs to lose 2 stone just to get to the top of the normal range, never mind comfortably into the middle of the normal range to give some leeway.
I reckon this is a big reason why this country has such an obesity epidemic, people have lost track of what "normal" weight looks like!!!

No, it's a fact - his weight and height are on the OT website and put them into a BMI calculator gives a BMI of 33, obesity starts at 30.
The only way somebody with of BMI of <25 would look like that was if they had no bones!!!!
As I said, that's why this country is in such a state - overweight and obesity have become so prevalent that people no longer recognise what a normal weight actually looks like.

I have to agree with this. We've gotten so used to seeing people overweight that it has in affect become normalised. Now I know that there are agreements against the BMI measurements and that's fair enough, but they can be a good starting point or ball park. He might look "grand" or "a little overweight" to many people but the reality is that this man is obese and that can and already has had an affect on his health.
I notice they are not setting any weight loss targets this year and are almost apologetic when mentioning the weight
I was watching last night and on the topic of the man being obese, I couldn't help but notice that Dr Eddie looks as "obese" as the guy on the show.
As for the comment that his weight already had an impact on his health. That isn't necessarily true. Perfectly healthy people have heart problems also. Sure, healthy lifestyle gives you the best chance. I worked with a guy mid 50s who was fit as a fiddle, spent his weekends gardening and walking the hills. Had salad every day for lunch. He got a heart attack and died at work. Another guy had fries and chips every day, was a smoker and never had problems.
Sure the program at the start had the late Gerry Ryan as its presenter!
I agree with your points - we all know people like that too, seemingly healthy people who dropped dead, got cancer or whatever.
They are way too soft on them, it should like The Biggest Loser where they are pushed until the sweat is pouring off them and nearly passing out.

Ha in fairness it's one thing that's been missing from all the leaders as a whole the past few years...discipline, and it's great to have it back. Well done to them all.

He clearly has know idea of the job. Turning the phone off just delays and amplifies tomorrow's problems. Principals essentially only have Saturday off because they HAVE to respond to issues which pop up all the time.
