Ah here, i'd say the students are knocking great craic out of it.
Maybe relative to other teachers ........................... he does his 20 hours a week for half of the year.
/runs away
He should be happy to play out his martyr complex in the 'Joy. Enough is enough, I suppose the Burkes need to keep the grift coming in though
Objective now seems to keep this battle going as awkwardly as possible.
Seize Dadd'y car for trespass. The whole family should be out in Portrane.
So either way, you’re confirming my point that employers who don’t give due process to employees during disciplinary proceedings end up making payments at the WRC, thanks for confirming that.
I can only think of this
My use of "potential" was down to it being up to the school to seek to press charges etc.
Criminal charges are definitely now an option on the table that wouldn't necessarily have been available last week though.
"Instant" dismissal for Gross misconduct would be pretty standard I'd have thought.
I would also suggest that his actions over the last few months up to and including his behaviour at the hearing last Thursday would definitely facilitate charges of Gross misconduct.
They don’t seem to be, if you read their letter to him. Probably some of them found it funny at the start, but now it’s intimidating and damaging their education.
he needs to be kept away from the school, to protect the students/children
(a worrying sentence to have to write)
Good to read the opinion of a religious person Grace. you make an interesting point. he was there to teach. the welfare of his students should be his priority. he has shown no concern for them at all.
Only about 10% of cases are won, and of them, most payouts are miniscule. If you take that as confirming your point, you are not really interested in the reality of the discussion.
I'd say they are self-funding - they are probably relatively well-off and wouldn't have huge outgoings as they don't strike me as a holidays in Orlando/ €10K home cinema sort of family.
I don't think anyone has put forward any evidence of a 'grift' or US funding. I think that the 'Christian zealot' market is quite competitive anyway, and you need quite a lot of charisma and people skills to get a portion of the money. And the Burkes really don't seem to have any of those skills.
Enoch taken from the school in a Garda vehicle
Teacher Enoch Burke has left Wilson's Hospital School in Multyfarnham in a garda car this afternoon.
Mr Burke attended the Westmeath school this morning, despite being dismissed from his position last Friday.
Gardaí arrived at the school at 11.15am and left at 12.41pm.
He was reported to have arrived at 8:30am - Why did the school wait nearly 3hrs to get the Gardai and what took them a further ~90 minutes before they took him away??
Will the family appear at the Garda station chanting and roaring I wonder?
Where did you get your 10% from?
“Of the 3,059 complaints adjudicated upon by the WRC in 2020, 1,237 (40.5%) were successful, 1,595 (52%) were unsuccessful and 227 (7.5%) were withdrawn. When withdrawn complaints are excluded, the complaint success rate increases to 43.68%.”

I can't think of any other high-profile religious zealots in Ireland. And do many people end up in prison and unemployed for their beliefs? (Yes, we know his behaviour after this is what landed him in hot water but that's a minor detail to the "let the man teach" brigade)
Genuine question - Are all cases in the WRC taken by an employee against an employer or can an Employer go to the WRC for resolution as well?
Yeah, it's really weird. I had a look at their website, minimal information, no roll number that I could find, and the only photos of "pupils" appear to be photos of the Burkes themselves.

I don’t think an employer can take a case at WRC.
There have been a few over the years , but none have managed to find themselves the wrong side of the law so often or have been quite so litigious as the Burkes have been.
The others have mostly contained themselves to repeatedly calling into Joe Duffy or Gay Byrne back in the day or sometimes standing at the top of Grafton street etc.
Dunno, perhaps they tried to reason with him or get legal advice on how to deal with the situation.
Altough they should have highly suspected he was going to do what he did
At a guess, they gave him the chance to leave of his own volition. Perhaps it was explained to him (again) that he was now no longer a member of staff and had no right to be there. If they'd sent for the gardai on the spot, it might have given the Burkes another angle to hang their flimsy complaints on.
Just as well the Gardaí collected Mr.Burke... as I see the baying lynch mob are in good voice here again today!!!
If you ran a business and sacked an employee, how would you feel if they kept showing up for work?
No one wants to "lynch" him , everyone just wants him to go away and abide by the laws of the country he lives in.
He's been fired , he has no right to turn up to his former place of employment.
If he thinks his firing was unfair , there are multiple processes/pathways that he can follow to address his concerns.
NONE of those available legal processes include him continuing to turn up to his former place of employment and causing disruption.
This behaviour is EXACTLY why he has found himself where he is , Not his beliefs , not the existence of Trans people - His complete and utter refusal to behave like an adult and follow the law are the sole source of all his current problems.
That's it , nothing more nothing less.
It's not just employee/ employer. I've seen cases taken by members of the public there aswell, I remember a case where a glass jug exploded, after being filled with boiling water, and a racist coffee shop employee, think it was a smiley face on a cup that caused the issue.... I don't know why these were heard by the WRC
You’re wasting your time speaking to people like this. They’re definitely either just trolls or that dumb they really think he’s right.
See daddy saved a few pound on petrol anyway and didn’t have to collect him today.
The WRC are the body responsible for cases taken under the Equal Status Act.
He should have asked the guards, for a hand looking for John Rogers,
Has anyone seen him
WHERE. IS. JOHN ROGERS
