Enoch is using one belief to negate another which is absurd. Had Enoch taught science and refused on the basis that using "they" was incorrect nomenclature for a male imho it would be hard to argue with his logic.
Nah, pronouns are more of an English issue than a science one. That said, he was teaching German - that's a whole different ballgame when it comes to gender and nouns.
One way or the other, I'm pretty sure I don't want someone who believes in the sky-hippie creating the earth in 6000 years teaching science.

It's not "groupthink" it's about the Burkes being in the wrong, consistently, and victimising anyone who they take a dislike to.
Unless he's struck off by the Teaching Council he can teach again, unlikely another school would go near hiring him.
A lot of schools have kids at various stages of transition, and even staff now and this has happened fairly calmly and organically. Discussion is had and honestly, the biggest issues I've encountered is staff worrying they might not have the right vocab and wanting extra training so they do the right thing.
The idea that I can always run my professional life perfectly in live with my personal beliefs is always laughable. Half the teaching staff in the country would abandon the new JCT as it directly contradicts a lot of their personally held beliefs about education...........but you are bound by professional standards and contract law. Most adults don't struggle with this, it might annoy them personally but it's an understood part of functioning in an organisation
